btate
I am looking to get my Mother and Sister from West Palm Beach Airport to a hotel for a night then to the pier the next day. Do any of you locals know a hotel that offers a shutle from the airport and then to the pier the next day that is reasonable? They are sailing the Voyager of the seas out of Miami March 3. They also need transportation to a hotel on March 10 and then to the airport early in the morning on the 11th. It is their first time sailing out of Miami. Any ideas are welcome. You have my thanks! DaCruzNut
Byron- West Palm is very far from Miami, and there is no public transportation. In fact, there isn't even shuttle service. That means limo, or taxi, both of which will be very expensive. Whatever your saving on airfare, by not flying into Miami Intrnational, will be more than eaten up getting from WPB to Miami. Even Ft Laud is about 40 miles away from Miami. While the local hotels will shuttle you to Port Everglades, they will not take you to Miami. The best thing would be to fly into Miami and stay at a hotel there... There's a nice Holiday Inn near the port, and several others. The Days Inn Downtown/Port is nice also, and the Marriott Courtyard. Steer clear of the "Port of Miami Hotel" It's in a bad neighborhood, not well maintained and run down. cruisingfun
Hi Byron: You may want to look at SuperShuttles: http://www.supershuttle.com/htm/cities/pbi.htm. According to their web site they serve all cities in Florida. They have a fare listed from Palm Beach to Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale port) for $64 one way, but I didn't see anything for Miami. Other than taxi's and if they don't have a lot luggage, they could use the Tri-Rail service (http://www.tri-rail.com/) from Palm Beach to the Miami airport and then take a taxi from the airport to their hotel. But be aware, they would need to use the shuttle bus service between the airport and the Tri-rail station. Another option would be to rent a car. btate
After doing a little looking, it looks like a Limo-Taxi service will be about $150 each way + Gratuity. A rental car was about $35 (Includes tax) and will allow them to pick up at the airport and drop off at the port and vice versa. . . Rental car is the cheap way to go and it looks like I95 will take them almost directly to the port. Thanks for the advice and this is why I love you guys on this board.
