  1. Got to go with the piano bar... It's usually a great place to interact with the other passengers and the piano player. lots of fun. But, then again, I love piano bars on land, too. Visit them 2-3 times a week.
  2. I believe that this 'string' of postings proves that the quality of cruies varies not only form cruise line to cruise line, and ship to ship, to individual sailings of a particular ship... I have been on Celebrity 5, or 6, times and have loved each and every cruise. I have only been on Princess once, but loved that cruise also. I have only sailed on HAL once, and Royal Caribbean 4 times, and did not enjoy any of those cruises, except for one on RCCI. Wasn't thrilled with Costa either. I guess it boils down to what voyage you're on, and your personal tastes.
  3. Way to go, Jenn!!! Congrats on the booking!!
  4. Joey, I definately prefer Celebrity to Princess, also. Some other small touches on Celebrity; a linen napkin on the buffet trays keep the silverware and plates from slipping and rattiling; pads on the lounge chairs. However, I love Princess also, as a 'close second' to Celebrity. Princess gives you a larger variety of food and food served 24 hours. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give Celebrity a 9 and Princess an 8.9. My third choice? Surprise.....it's Carnival!

  9. Have a great cruise!! The weather forecast is perfect for the sailing...
  10. I have made friends with Mikhail, the piano player at the piano ber aboard the Regal Empress. Miki has learned a number of new songs, for me, and we have an "act" together. I have also made friends with some of the entertainers aboard various ships I've been on, but they end when the cruise ends.
  11. I have had the distinction of having sailed with ms. Jones on board, twice. Let me tell you, all the crew members treat her VERY WELL! Wherever she goes on the ship, she's the guest of honor.
  12. If you'd like to advertise on this site, I'm sure Jason would be very glad to sell you some space.....[/size]
  13. Byron- West Palm is very far from Miami, and there is no public transportation. In fact, there isn't even shuttle service. That means limo, or taxi, both of which will be very expensive. Whatever your saving on airfare, by not flying into Miami Intrnational, will be more than eaten up getting from WPB to Miami. Even Ft Laud is about 40 miles away from Miami. While the local hotels will shuttle you to Port Everglades, they will not take you to Miami. The best thing would be to fly into Miami and stay at a hotel there... There's a nice Holiday Inn near the port, and several others. The Days Inn Downtown/Port is nice also, and the Marriott Courtyard. Steer clear of the "Port of Miami Hotel" It's in a bad neighborhood, not well maintained and run down.
  14. I am not a gambler. Other than a regular poker game with the guys, in my youth, and an occasional “Las Vegas Night†at a local charity, I had never gambled at all. I used to go to Jai Alai, and play the $3.00 quinella, once in a while; and there were the office World Series, and Super Bowl, pools; and the lottery….. However, I do frequent the casino on a ship, and have been very lucky. One of the dealers taught me a very important lesson, on that first cruise. These three “rules†have probably kept me “ahead†more than anything else, with the exception of being very lucky! The first is based on a very simple premise. When you are ahead, the winnings are your money! That money, once it’s on your side of the table, belongs to you. It is not the “house’s money,†“their money,†or anyone else’s. If you pick it up, and walk away, nobody can stop you. You can cash in the chips, put the money in your wallet, and spend it any was you wish. When you play with the money you’ve won, you play it no differently than the money you took out of your wallet. The second is just as easy. When you walk up to the table, set a “high-low†limit. Decide, in advance, how much you are willing to lose, and purchase only that amount in chips. If your luck is running bad, and you lose that stake, walk away. Don’t ever reach into your pocket for more. Consider it the cost of an evening’s entertainment. Conversely, set a “winnings†limit. Usually, a good number is twice your original stake. You can adjust it, but stick to it. When you hit that number, walk away and cash in. Finally, is the “three play†rule. Whether at a table, or a machine, if you don’t win one hand, in the first three, walk away.
  15. Well, Mary Lou, I'm strongly considering it....and, yes, we get great deals. I got another e-mail, as a Florida resident and past passenger: 7 day W. Caribbean from Miami on the Carnival Triumph 3/17/07 from $449.00 7 day E. Caribbean from Miami on the Carnival Victory 3/18/07 from $449.00 8 day E. Caribbean from Ft. Lauderdale on the Carnival Liberty 3/3/07 from $549.00
  16. Just got an e-mail from Carnival; "Watch the Big Game from the best seat in th hopuse!" A three-day cruise, out of Miami, aboard the Fascination, sailing February 2dn, for $169.00 p.p......
  17. I love the warm weather, and really enjoy being out on deck, at night. Therefore, Al=aska is out for me... I'm not big on Europe, either, and hate airports! I don't mind flying, but abhor airports. Therefore, all 69 of my cruises have been to the Caribbean; Eastren, Western, Southern... The only other place I'd really like to cruise is Hawaii and the South Seas. However, that means airports.... What I need is a cruise from Miami, or Ft lauderdale, through the Panama Canal to California. Then, a cruise from California to Hawaii. Then, a cruise around Hawaii, And, then reverse cruise to hget home. I'd like that!
  18. I think the best ones are the Latitudes member parties aboard NCL. They are first class! Instead of walking around with trays of watered-down drinks, bar waiters walk around and take orders for bar drinks. Anything you'd like... And, the hors douvres are really good. The past passenger parties are new on Carnival, and they are getting better. However, I always try to attend just because they're fun..
  19. My first cruise was aboard the Holiday, to the Western Caribbean, from Miami, onSeptember 16, 1989. If you care to read about it, click: http://www.cruisecrazies.com/som/2.php
  20. Every time I go on a ship I haven't been on, I save a postcard, with a picture of the ship, and a $1.00 casino chip. When I have several, I get them framed.
  21. Had the anytime dining on the Grand Princess and, yes, it's for the entire cruise. Same dress code applies... Never had to wait more than 5 minutes.
  22. Always tape one to the door. Have had a few passengers ask about it, but never had anyone from the ship question it...
