Terry777R
We are just in the planning stages of our next cruise with some friends. We would both like to do a Hawaii cruise, but have head some good and bad. We are looking at the round trip cruises from San Diego or Los Angeles, just because the prices of the plane fare are so much higher to go to Hawaii and cruise back to BC. We have heard a lot of negative comments about the cruise over and back due to sea sickness, ran out of water?? etc. Has anyone taken one of these cruises? What cruise line, how long ago, did you have any negative experiences? If you had it to do over again, would you do it differently? We are open to different cruise lines. Once we figure out that part, it would be good to know what the highlight of your trip was as far as excursions. I have tried searching in the site, but am new to the site and not sure the best way to find what I am looking for. Many of the posts are older also - not in the last 2 years. Thanks for any insight you can provide.
zebra
Welcome Terry! Have have cruised Hawaii before, but from Honolulu to Vancouver and we are doing the exact same trip again next year. If you choose a one way from Hawaii to California/Vancouver remember you can book a return flight - fly over and cruise back .... you just won't use the return portion of your air ticket but the fare will be lower. We didn't have any VERY bad seas. We like the rocking and rolling feeling on the ship anyhow .... I always feel that's what I pay for - it's the difference between a cruise ship and a hotel. On the water situation - I wonder which cruiseline you are speaking about .... most of the ships make their own fresh water onboard. With regards to excursions I would definitely suggest going to a Luau .. it was a highlight for us. Also snorkeling in Hawaii is wonderful. Another highlight was the excursion to the top of the volcano on the Big island. I guess it all depends on your likes and dislikes and also on how active you want to be.
