Sadly our experience was not very good. We had heard that the children in Costa Maya needed school supplies and we loaded a 30" rolling duffle bag with all types of school supplies and had the name of someone in town to drop them off too. When we got off the ship and walked to the end of the pier we were stopped by 2 soldiers (with machine guns on their shoulders) and pulled aside. We were detained for nearly an hour when they went through every crayon box, every pack of markers, every single page of every composition book, etc. We were made to feel like criminals. They finally left everything thrown all over the ground and walked away - leaving us to pick up the things and put them back in the bag. When we told the "contact" about our experience he simply shrugged his shoulders and took the bag of supplies. He seemed upset when we asked for the bag back. We often wondered if the children even got those supplies.

OldMan - 97 cruises is very impressive. Please share some of your cruise experiences with us. I'm sure you can tell us a lot of useful information.

Debbie - I don't know how Carnival will work their program but on Celebrity if your mixed drink or wine are over a certain amount you still have to pay the difference.

If you belong to any of the cruise lines loyalty programs, how important is the program in keeping you sailing with them? Would you not try other lines simply because of the perks you receive from one line? We were loyal to RC until they restructured their program. They added a new level so far removed from the previous high level that attaining it was just about impossible for us. They also took away some of the benefits we had in the past. We then tried some other lines and had mostly very good experiences and would sail with most of them again.

Celebrity also has this "pay one price" option on their ships. We tried to figure it out but if I drank enough to make it worthwhile I wouldn't remember a thing about the cruise and I would be extremely sick. Not a good idea IMHO.

I don't know if we got tired of our "favorite" or just decided to see what else is out there. Have tried several different lines over the last couple of year with (mostly) very nice results.

We have never booked a suite but would love to try one if the price is right. We do love our balcony cabins and would have to get an amazing deal to sail without one.

I would like to try Azamara and some of the upper level cruise lines but then it would limit the number of times a year I could cruise. I guess for now I will stick with more cruises/

Not at all happy to hear this. We love Bermuda and having 3 days in port is great.
