  1. Hi, Alice! I'm sure you'll get a lot of advice. Look it over, and decide what's best for you... Remember, don't panic! Anything you forget can be bought on board the ship, or in port. I once forgot to pack socks!

  3. There's a lot to do, and see, in Puerto Rico! If you spend time there, check out Rio Camuy Caverns, Loquillo Beach and don't miss El Yunque, the only tropical rainforest in the U.S.

  5. I don't believe this is a "major outbreak." After all, 3% of the general population would have similar problems, whether on a ship or not... I do feel sorry for the people who became ill, but the blame is not with Carnival.

  7. Sorry I can't help with info, but just wanted to welcome you aboard!

  9. Why don't you just postpone the cruise, for a short while, and come see a REAL team playing? Tickets are available at Pro Player Stadium (a/k/a Joe Robbie Stadium) and TicketMaster.

  11. Ever since our first cruise, I have saved a post card, and a $1 casino chip, from every cruise, since. When I reached 9, I had them framed. I now have a collection of 37 different post cards (some of the ships I've sailed several times, so I don't have the full 55...), and chips, framed and one loose. Guess I need to go on a lot more cruises! I also have a t-shirt from almost every ship...

  13. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr............. It's "mid-afternoon," and we just broke 60......got to 61! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...........
  14. The latest forecast isn't TOO bad.... The front is 1/2 way through the state, just south of Tampa/Lake Okeechobee/Daytona, and headed south. No rain is associated with the front, except a small line of broken showers that has already come through. By Saturday morning, South Florida will hit a low of 58-60, warming only to the mid-60's during the day. Saturday night will also dip to the low 60's and Sunday will also be in the mid-60's. By monday we should be warming up, into the 70's. By mid-week we'll be back to the usual high-70's to low-80's...
  15. If this is a "cruise-and-stay" combination, with "Discovery Cruise Lines," to Freeport, back-off! You will have to pay 'handling charges,' 'port taxes' etc; that will cost you more than the normal $149.00, p.p. that the cruise goes for. Plus, it's not a REAL cruise. The ship is small; the 3 meals buffet; no cabin, you change in a locker room.... It's a local day-cruise that we Floridians sometimes take to Freeport and back, in one day, when they run the "special" $49.00 fare.
  16. I enjoy a "chilly" evening, once in a while. Last year, one one of our "cold (50's)" nights, we lit a nice fire, in the living room; put on some soft music; and toasted marshmellows. It was so nice that, this year, I'm getting a fireplace! . . . . By the way, do you know the story of the "fireplace?" It was invented by two redneck brothers, Clyde and Lem Furnace. After they invented it, Lem turned to Clyde and said, "Gee, what are we gonna call it?" "Well, gosh'" replied Clyde, "it's a fire place, so why..." "Great!" interrupted Lem, "A fireplace!"
  17. It usually takes more than a decorated door to find my cabin at night. I'm usually licky to find the right deck, and then it takes 2-3 cabin attendants and an Assistant Pursor, to guide and carry me........ Is that why they say, "He drinks like a fish???????"
  18. If you're sailing from the Port of Miami, or Port Everglades, this week-end, be warned....... We had a beautiful Thanksgiving! The sky was blue and the sun hot; with low humidity, temperatures in the 80's and a nice, brisk, breeze. We're expecting more of the same tmorrrow, but late tomorrow afternoon a cold front is supposed to come through. Saturday, we're only supposed to get up to the sixties! And, Saturday night we're supposed to dip into the FIFTIES! Did you hear me??? FIFTIES!!! Like, in half of a hundred! Same for Sunday. OK, let's see..... got to put anti-freeze in, and snow tires on, the car; put up the storm windows; get out the woolies, mittens and winter coat; maybe I'll start the car and come back in, while it warms up.......
  19. NCL was my favorite line, before "Freestyle." I was a loyal Latitudes member and have many NCL cruises under my belt. Since Star took them over, and converted to "freestyle," they are no longer my favorite. As a prior post stated, nothing was bad, it's just that nothing was very good, with the exception of the production shows.
  20. About 12 different lines.... Most favorites: Celebrity, Princess, Carnival, NCL. Least favorites: HAL, Costa, Royal Caribbean. All time favorite ship: s/s Britanis (12 SAILINGS....)
  21. Have a fantastic cruise, on one of my favorite ships!
  22. The last time Richard Simmons was in charge of a "diet/exercise" cruise, the ship started out at 110,000 grt and was only 98,000 grt by the time it got back.....
