Hi Cruisetarp, Boy, that sounded like a plan to me! Have the kids move you while you are away on a cruise. Can't imagine why they did not go for that! Where in PA are you moving to?? That is my home state but I left it many, many years ago and have lived all over the world since then. The Skipper

Well, it is old George Washington's birthday today and raining like mad in normally sunny Las Vegas. While hanging out today, I got our the calandar and computed that it is exactly 57 days until our next cruise aboard the Sun Princess. And yes, even after many, many cruises we still count the days and look forward with anxious anticipation. How about you?? Where are you going and when? We are stacked three deep for 2004 -- The Sun, Legend of the Seas and the Infinity. Did four in 2003, so I guess we are cutting back this year. Anyway, the final payment has been made, so now we can look forward to the docs arriving. The air travel is arranged, pre-cruise hotel booked, house sitter/pet sitter notified. Only thing left to do is pack and book a limo to the airport! So who's counting? We are! The Skipper :undecided:

Hi Maria, Enjoyed your review very much. We sailed on the Paradise about 3 years ago. Your reviews brought many fond memories for us. Hope we hook up on a future cruise. The Skipper

My favorite time is the late evening after a fantastic dinner, a great show, just wondering the ship. Doing a little dancing in one of the lounges and winding down from another wonderful day of cruising. The Skipper

What possessed you? (to take your first cruise)
TheSkipper replied to KeithnRita's topic in Let's Talk Cruise!
Our first cruise was on April 10, 1983 aboard Carnival's Mardi Gras out of Miami. We were in Stateroom M-58. How's that for a memory! Actually I have kept a log of all of our 40 cruises. By the way our first cruise was a 7 day to the Western Caribbean. It was inspired by the Love Boat TV Series. The Skipper  -

Creative ways of identifying your luggage
TheSkipper replied to GottaCruz's topic in Let's Talk Cruise!
A few cruises ago (about 15) we purchased on line red, white, blue luggage straps with our full names woven right into the fabric. Can't miss them. We also use bright red luggage. So we look at red bags first then for the straps. Works great. The Skipper  -

Thanks to all of you for your input. Been messing with Priceline, but have not hit on anything for FLL. Had great luck with them in Tampa in December for a Pre-Cruise Hotel, but Ft. Lauderdale has not worked well. Guess I will have to book direct. Shari we too are looking forward to meeting you aboard the Infinity in December. Fifteen day cruise - should be great! The Skipper

We have done five group cruises to date. Biggest group had 484 folks on board smallest was about 100. These were group cruises from another newsgroup. Served as Chairperson for the 2003 cruise. I think the simplier you keep it the better it will be. As ours grew it became more and more complicated with travel agents submitting bids etc. Don't know Port Canaveral having never sailed from there. But for those of us who will have to fly in Ft. Lauderdale is a heck of a lot better than Miami for air fares and cabbing distance to the ships. Don't think you should lock in with a TA at this point there are lots of them out there who do a good job. One thing that bugs me is when a TA does a group cruise and then books a competitive cruise against it the next year and uses the client list developed while doing the group cruise. Has happened elsewhere on the net.

Looking for suggestions for a pre-cruise hotel for one night prior to boarding the Sun Princess on April 19th. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions. The Skipper in Las Vegas

Keith & Rita, Our Dec. 5th cruise on the Infinity is a 15 day roundtrip to Hawaii from San Diego with lots of days at sea (which we love). The Skipper in Las Vegas

Wow, what a trip down memory lane. :cheesy: We sailed on the Mardi Gras on April 10, 1983 in Stateroom M-58. Our very first cruise! Now we have logged 40 and still remember the MG cruise as though it was just yesterday. The plumbing left a little to be desired and I'll always remember all the ladies going to the room down the hallway where they could plug in their curlers and hair dryers because you could not do it in the stateroom! Thanks for the post. The Skipper in Las Vegas

Misty, Two suggestions. 1. Keep a journal of your cruise. We have done 40 cruises to date and I have journaled every one of them. So I now exactly which ships we have been on, the dates, prices paid, names of Captains, room stewards, waiters, etc. And, exactly what we did each and every day. It is a lot of fun looking back over all these cruises. 2. Hang on to all those daily newsletters for the same reasons stated above. Great to look back on your cruise. For example, we are going back aboard the Sun Princess on April 19, 2004. Our last trip on the Sun Princess began in Fort Lauderdale on October 19, 1996. Captain Antonino Vito was the Master. The movie in the Princess Theater that evening was "Dragon Heart." Cocktail of the Day was "The Outward Bound" and cost $2.75. I think you will hooked on cruising like all of the rest of us, so start building memories now. The Skipper, in Las Vegas
