lindyf
OK I've read the packing lists and plenty of posts about what to take. I really need to know the real deal. Should I really pack a blender(I do like those drinks) How about a cd player and a travel iron. My friend is going on this cruise too and is having a time getting all of her things into two large bags. I don't really want to take 10 pair of shoes, every item of makeup I own etc., But what about the above mentioned items. Just wanting a few suggestions. Any help will be appreciated a bunch. I am in the process of packing as I type. Lindyf
Mebert
lindyf, You should use the packing list as a guide and only pack those things that you'll be absolutely sure you're going to use. I suggest you print the packing list and cross off those items you think you can live without. If you "must have" your CD player, take it with you. If you like to relax at the beach it may come in handy. I always take the black duct tape (because black goes with everything) for quick repairs and to tape down those blasted shower curtains.  I also take a very light weight power strip to charge the multiple equipment I take with me like phones and other rechargable batteries. The ship discourages irons in your room but I always take a small one for emergencies. I always make sure it's cool before I pack it away. Make sure each piece of luggage does not weigh any more than 50 lbs. On International flights American Airlines now charges a fee for baggage that weighs more than 50 lbs. GottaCruz suggested that you take some things that you can mix and match. Most men never see a reason to take 10 pairs of shoes. I'm not sure about the women. Personally, I don't take much notice to anybody's shoes so you could get away with far fewer shoes if you sailed with me.
Suzila
I'd say take the cd player for when you're sitting by the pool or on the beach. I'd skip the travel iron (if you really need something pressed, you can give it to your steward), and no, I wouldn't be taking a blender. As far as 10 pairs of shoes, no wonder your friend can't figure out how to fit it all into two suitcases. Try to mix and match your clothes so you're not taking your entire closet. You reeeally need a pair of dress shoes, a pair of tennis shoes (that can be worn when you're on the excursions), a pair of sandals or pool shoes. I like to have a pair of thongs to use in the shower. Maybe one more pair of shoes for the other outfits you wear in the evenings. That should do ya! I also always take a power strip because one electric plug is not enough for anyone.
Peddler
       I'm worse than the DW about taking too much junk. I'll wind up with 4 or 5 pairs of shoes, 2 or 3 pairs of slacks, a couple of pairs of dockers, Jeans and about 10 or more shirts, plus shorts. I can never decide what I want till the time to wear it, and then its a compromise. I like to be comfortable but also want to blend in (It's hard for and old redneck to blend in) and not be one of those "What the hell is he wearing" type of people, LOL. It,s a good thing we don't fly or I couldn't afford the cruise after the airline surcharge...hehehe. JIm
