cruisinmama
Hi everyone... I'm trying to pick a Cruise and get it booked. But am confused I did mapquest it but wanted to ask as it may open up more options for me to pick. If we fly into FLL which we did last time and stayed at the Holiday Inn right near the Port of Miami the day before the cruise and I had booked a private van service pick up for that. and wanted to get away from that as it was a disaster. So I have ONLY been looking at Fort Lauderdale for Cruising. Are the Ports all near each other? I think one it says Port Everglades if they are near each other than I can look at cruises from Miami also and just have to sort the pick up from FLL airport again and once we get off the ship to get to a Hotel. Also if I book the Hotel at the time of booking the Cruise and it says w/transfers is that only for airport pick up and drop off? or can it be to a Hotel too? I was trying to stay in the same area. I loved the Embassy Suites last time and wanted to use it again before and after this Cruise if it was logical to do so. TIA
sailingrose
Ann Port Everglades and Port of Miami aren't that far apart. There are shuttle services available from Ft. Lauderdale to the Port of Miami and vice versa. It's about a 1/2 to 1 hour drive depending on traffic about 25 miles or so. Hope that helps. sailingrose
I think you'd have to check with each hotel. There are private ones too but sorry can't help with them but I'll ask some of my out of town friends if you'd like.

cruisinmama
Ann are you talking about between the airport and the seaport? Now I'm confused. 10 minutes from where to where? Sorry what I think in my old brain doesn't mean you know what I am thinking..lol.. I was trying to avoid sailing from Miami as last time we flew to FLairport had a GOOD car service or so I thought to pick us up at FL airport and take us too our Hotel in Miami we had a flight delay and got in in very late after midnight anyway we let them know but when we did get in to FL we found out they did not have the right to be doing pick ups and plus they dropped us at the wrong Hotel as we did not see the sign and went in and they left only to find out it was not the right Hotel and we walked at 1: 00 am with our stuff to the right Hotel. So I was trying this time to avoid that and stay within FL. I guess as a novice Cruiser and not knowing anything but our last experience just trying to avoid problems. So I map quested the Hotel we like and the Ports and it says a 10 min ride or so. So won't have to worry about a car service. Plus I'm sure the Hotel had shuttle service to the airport for a small fee.
sailingrose
OK I just want to be sure you understood. I can see how aggravating that trip must have been. We always carry the hotels address to give to the cab driver sometimes we even carry the directions from the airport, LOL. As long as your straightened out it's fine.
