  1. Was there any mention how old the other young men were? I'm really surprised that 22 year olds need guardians to travel on a ship.
  2. Peddler, Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary and cruise. But most of all, congratulations on winning that first cruise. I cruise most of the time for a vacation or a mental health break. However, my next cruise will be the family reunion of my regular traveling companion. You'd better believe I would not pass up a cruise for any reason. I now find that I'm challenged in deciding what I'll do for land vacations. I have these certificates for 7 day resort stays worldwide for $299. I can't decide where I want to go. I find making a decision to cruise somewhere is so much easier.
  3. I forgot to mention that I got my Cruise Docs on Monday. How could I forget after doing those cartwheels (In my dreams). It was my first time getting them from Celebrity and I let it sit there for two days because I thought it was advertising material for the line. It came in the form of a small binder rather than a flat envelop. It's a good thing I like to read cruise material or what I perceived to be advertising would have been in the recycle bin. But it's time to dance now.
  4. I'll be sailing next month on Celebrity Mercury from Seattle to Alaska. I've done some preparing by reading the Celebrity site on what I might need to pack. To be frank, I feel a little intimidated because I'm a Carnival type of cruiser. I'm afraid that I have to wear a shirt and tie to dinner almost every night. I don't mind dressing up for formal evenings but I don't want to have to wear a jacket and tie on the other evenings. My luggage will be heavy enough as it is with the airlines only allowing 50 lbs. now and the heavier clothing because of the cooler climate. I don't want to pack a bunch of jackets. CruiseCrazies, give me some ideas on what to pack for Alaska in June. You know I'm not the jeans type of guy either. Here are my questions: -What is informal wear for Celebity? -What is casual wear for Celebrity? -What do cruisers wear on sea days? In the brochures everybody is dressed to the hilt all the time. I'm telling you now, I'm not wearing a smoking jacket and bowtie around that Celebrity ship all day.   Thanks for your help.
  5. This is a very tragic event, but underneath it all Daniel was 21 years old. He should have been old enough to be responsible for himself and was of legal age to consume alcohol. Alcoholism is a disease that many of us who don't have the problem can hardly understand. If that party had to bring so much alcohol on the ship, someone or a few of them probably had a drinking problem. That was a lot of alcohol. My sympathy is with the family of the victim but if it's discovered that he overindulged in alcohol he has to be responsible for himself. The ship can't monitor what goes on in the cabins and they give passengers the courtesy of using an honor system when boarding the ship. Does that policy need to change? If the story regarding the drinking is legitimized, it needs to come out as a warning for other young people who are going on cruises to show them that excessive alcohol and the sea do not necessarily mix.
  6. JoeyandDavid, They probably mean an increase in fares to offset expenses.
  7. The Skipper, Welcome back. I can't wait to read your review based on the tidbits you offered from on board.
  8. popsec and Mom, Bon Voyage and have a great cruise. May you have smooth sailing.
  9. The Skipper, I know exactly how you feel about the last evening of a cruise. It just seems to end so quickly.
  10. Crewzer and Haze, I hope you can have a mini, mini CruiseCrazies convention. It's really exciting to know that you'll be meeting a fellow CruiseCrazies member.
  11. cruisetarp, Bon Voyage and have a great cruise. May you have smooth sailing.
  12. JohnG, Bon Voyage and have a great cruise. May you have smooth sailing. I can't wait to hear your particular perspective on your cruise.
  13. frostyboy64, Thanks for your review. I noticed many CruiseCrazies feel the same way I do about Carnival. Most of my cruises have been on Carnival. I guess I've been lucky to get good service staff. There is a great possibility that your wait team was a lemon team. I had asked on another thread if you arrived in the dining room late. Sometimes it slows some other things down if you arrive late. However, the wait staff is usually very tactful if that happens. They do try to gently get you to conform to arrive in time to enjoy a leisurely pace for dinner. I'm really sorry that you had a lukewarm time on the Fascination. I did read that you enjoyed some of the shows and some of the food so it wasn't a complete loss. I do hope you give one of Carnival's new ships a try. You might be pleasantly surprised.
