  3. It can be hit or miss, we cruised Mexico once in Jan and found the first two days not swimming weather, but as we got further south it definately warmed up. It will be warmer than 99 % of the states though, so enjoy the no winter coat weather regardless of whether its"HOT"! On the flip side you may be lucky and hit some hot weather, I have seen it very warm down there ( southern California) in the winter so as I said it will be hit or miss! Good luck!

  12. O.K. so I'm different, but I would like to see more ethnic dishes on board, I can eat "plain food" anytime( that 's what I cook LOL) so I like different stuff when I'm out. I would like a sushi bar, I would love it if they offered some Thai food( nice and spicy, not americanized) or Japanese stir frys, etc. I understand some people like stuff they are used to, but when I'm travelling I like a bit of some different. :cheesy:

  15. Well , we had early for our first two cruises( not our choice for the first one as it was our honeymoon! But on second we had our young(infant ) children with us and did choose early) .and then we had late seating for our third cruise. We found early too early and late , too late. Now on Princess we don't have too choose, we took Personal Choice and we won't mind if we have to wait for a table, at least it will be within our time line of when we get down ( or up ) to dinner. We have already decided to just relax and have a drink while we wait, also we are flexible about the table size we request ,as opposed to some who demand a table for two at 7.30( peak time) and then get choked if they have to wait! We just ae thrilled to be cruising !

  18. Hi there are serveral other boards that have " looking for cabin mates" boards. Try Cruise Mates or ######. Many other people are your exact position so don't worry that you're the only one! My mom had a friend who she travelled with, but the friend got sick( M.S) and wasn't able to contemplate a longer Asian cruise my mom wanted to take. So my mom let her travel agent know what she was interested in and the T.A. knew of another lady in a similar position. Viola! They met for coffee, decided they were o.k. with each other and off they went for 3 weeks. They had a good time, they were not in each others pockets, but at least had someone on board to share the cabin costs and have dinner with. They are not best buddies( they had no problems with each other though) and still meet for coffee occasionally so it worked out for them! Good luck!!!

  20. We are also cruising on the Golden in April(17th) and we will be trying P.C. dining. We have done early traditional seating and found it too early( especially on port days) and traditional late( found it tooo late and I would often be too tired to go to the shows as we often didn't finish dining till 10 or 10:30.) So we are hoping for the best of both worlds with this type of dining. We don't mind waiting 15 or 20 minutes for a table( we'll go have a drink!) and because we are quite flexible( we don't care if they stick us at a table for 2 or 10) we are hoping we won't have too much trouble with long waits. I think that the opportunity to meet many different types of people could be fun. We have found that although we never had any "nightmare" tablemates , we've neither found the exact right match for us. Just because they stick you at a table with some comparable aged persons doesn't guarantee compatiblity. At least with P.C. you would only have to suffer one meal with table mates you don't click with, and if you are lucky you may find some that you do and then you could make reservations to dine together another evening.

  22. Hi Giwiz, My hubby and I cruised with my 5 month old and 2 year old, back in 93'. My personal opinion is that the baby was a breeze, the 2 year old not so easy!! The baby had his car seat that we carried him around in and that he sat in quite happily, at meal time he sat in that or in a high chair that the staff always had out and ready for him. We did bring some of his own toys to chew on as he was not yet eating ( well may-be just a bit of pablum) so at meal time he got a bit bored. The two year old sure had fun , and the waiters were very kind to him but he made a mess( dropping his crackers etc.) and he didn't like sitting in his high chair for more than 20 minutes or so( so daddy and I took turns speed eating!) The baby was ALOT easier.he often just fell asleep. I made sure to breast feed him right before dinner ( in cabin) and then he was offered a water bottle( It was so hot) at meal time( which he usaully rejected!) My hubby and I turn turns going to the cabin to "nap" ( I would usaully read) and it was of course the 2 year old who had a harder time adjusting to the " new " bed "new" room etc. The baby could care less! The baby slept with us( the bed was big enough) even though at home he slept in his own crib. I guess what I'm trying to say is GO FOR IT! The baby will be easy and an 11 yer old is old enough for the programs and can be on her own a bit( no doubt with a friend she'll meet in the program!)

  24. Gotta Cruz, why did you assume that the reason they didn't come to dinner that night was to avoid tipping. The one time we cruised with our kids( and yes the staff were great) we didn't dine in the dining room on the last night as the kids were tired and we had so much packing to do , knowing that we had a LONG flight the next day we ordered in and stayed in that night. We just gave the staff their tips in the morning. We would have been rather taken aback if we thought that just because we didn't go to dinner everyone thought we were stiffing the staff.
