Same here. Everytime I'm there, no one else is. Just this little voice that says "Welcome" then "Bye". Maybe we should set a definate time each week, say every Wed. night at 7:00 or something like that. That way, everyone will know when the others are in there. Or every Saturday or something that would accomodate the majority of the Crazies. I'm available most nights so let me know and I'll be there with bells on. Sue (aka Tut)
  4. Have a great time. I know you'll enjoy every moment with your kids. Tell us all about it when you get back.
  5. Welcome dahdwdp to Cruise Crazies board. It's a wonderful place to find out all kinds of information and the people are extremely helpful and very, very nice. To answer your first question, we're staying at a hotel close to the pier and called them about transportation from the airport to their hotel and was told they have no shuttle but have a contract with a cab company and would make that arrangement for us. We need to let them know a few days ahead of time and the cost is $24 for the cab, not per person. I'm pretty sure we could get the same cab company to pick us up and take us to our hotel after the cruise. We'll be staying at the Daphnie Orleans. I suggest you call your hotel and see if they have some kind of arrangements like that. To answer your second question, Interior Cabin is what you are until you've posted 100 times then it changes and after 500 posts, it changes again, and so on and so on and so on. We really don't have any control over it. Again, WELCOME
  6. We've sailed on 4 different cruise lines: Carnival - cruise was ok but a lot of "Adult" entertainment. Even the matinee comedy (ventriloquist) act was a little PG13 and a lot of the parents walked out with their children. We always go to the matinees because we find they're just as funny without the adult humor except this time. When it came time to fill out the form on what we liked/disliked about the cruise, we were told to "not let a small mistake influence our remarks". I'm sure they got a lot of complaints. Now that I've said that - the food was good and the other shows were terrific. Really hated the disembarkation because it took forever. They kept paging this family, who never seemed to show up, and wouldn't let us off the ship until they did (or until whatever problem they were having was resolved). Lots of smokers so not too pleasant. This was a few years ago so I'm hoping it's improved some because that's where we're going on our next cruise. Big Red Boat - anyone remember that one? That was our very first cruise and everyone knows, the first time is always the best. We really enjoyed everything on that cruise and it had all the Looney Tunes characters so I got autographs and pictures of all of them. We took a second cruise with them but by then, Disney had their ships and they were on their way out. On the Carnival cruise, we saw both ships docked in Nassau and knew they weren't going anywhere. It was a little sad. Royal Caribbean - lots of glitz on this cruise and lots of big time gamblers. It was very nice but they didn't have a lot to do or any food courts or things like that. It was ok but not one of the better ones. Disney Wonder - lots of Disney ambiance but if you're going to do the parks before or after the cruise, it's not worth the extra money you pay. The food was ok and the shows were typical Disney but it was a little "over the top". I'm sure the families with small children really enjoy it but for just my hubby and I, we'll probably not do a Disney cruise again.
  7. We sail the end of September but nothing can put a damper on this cruise. We'll have a ball regardless of the weather.
  8. You did a great job. Beautiful picture. So that's what they look like on the doors......
  9. We always take a bottle of Fabrize and bathroom spray. Larry always makes sure we have a corkscrew. All the other stuff is pretty general.
  10. HAPPY 40th ANNIVERSARY. Have a wonderful time. You deserve it. 40 years is quite something in this day and age.
  11. The only one that we really didn't enjoy sitting with wasn't really part of our group. When we went to the dinning room for lunches, you could sit anywhere you wanted to and with any one you wanted to. We happen to sit at a table with some very nice people and along came this TA and spent the whole lunch period telling us all the good deals she got people, how she was able to get free cabins because she books so many for each cruise, etc., etc., etc. And she never missed a bite of her food in the process. She had a few of the people she had booked this particular cruise for (and got her free cabin) and continued to ask them, "Didn't I get you a great deal?" in between bragging about all the great deals. It was a buffet so we got our food and sat somewhere else. We could still hear her and she was still talking when we left the restaurant. As far as tablemates go, we've always been lucky and had a great time with the people we've sat with. This time, I requested a table for two because it's such a special cruise but we may ask to change to a bigger one once we board.
  12. Thanks so much for the anniversary wish. We'll be sailing out of New Orleans and going to Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. I'm hoping we don't have any hurricans at that time but if so, any port we sail to will be ok. After we return, we're staying in New Orleans for a couple of days and doing the "Night time Ghost Tour" and the "Cemetary Tour". This cruise, we're going all out and doing things up grand instead of on a budget. We had planned on going to Europe but with everything going on right now, we decided to put that on hold so we have a little extra money to spend. Both of us are retired so we have a limited budget but we enjoy traveling and it's one of our priorities (after the bills, of course  )
  13. We would love to go but unfortunately we've already planned a family cruise for Feb. of 2006. Just a small one to the Bahamas but we're paying for everything so it puts a pinch in our pocketbook. Would love to hear all about it, though, when you all get back to dry land.
  14. I think we'll pass on this one. It sounds like an exciting cruise and I know you'll all have a blast. Unfortunately, we live in the Midwest and getting to San Diego is another added expense. Joey, I love your home page. You've done such a good job on it. I envy anyone who can do that.
  15. Yep. Caribbean in Sept/Oct. 2007 works for my hubby Larry, and I too. We always go that time of the year and we've never really had a problem with the hurricans. The last time we went to the Western Caribbean, we had one following us to Mexico, then one in front of us coming home. We sailed out of Miami but never had to be re-routed or not able to stop at the islands. Maybe we've always been lucky but we look forward to Fall cruises.

    DDM for me

That's great boba. We're there too but it still isn't going fast enough.
  17. That's where we're going in September. We booked it using a Military rate. My husband is retired military plus we're both over 55 so we get some really good deals. Congrats on your booking. Now the hard part begins - waiting
  18. I only buy it if I'm booking way in advance - like a year or more or for more extensive vacations like to Europe or something like that. If I book a vacation just a few months prior to when we're going, I don't get it.
  19. WELCOME MartyA TO THE CruiseCrazies BB
