Just invited a new couple form the dark side to come and join the crazies. Bruce and Brenda- celebrating their 16 anniverasy. I was thinking of booking thru online site ticketaly.com There is a sevice charge and you have to pay up front. ever use this site? You can book tickets for anyhing in Italy. thought about reserving tickets for Accademia for David also. I know it is more expensive but it would be nice to have it paid for ahead of time. Gail

For any of you that are staying on in Venice...has anyone made reservations for the Secret Iteneray tour of Doge Palace ? Does anyone know if the hotel would make the reservation for you for the tour or for a time to see St Marks? Was thinking that our first day in port, we would just wonder and then make plans for the day we disembark and are staying in Venice. Anyone staying on thinking of going to any of the islands, Burano, Murano etc?

Wow, can you imagine how fun that would be... you would see the ports twice and that way you could be more relaxed as far as time.... then recoup on the transatlantic...sounds wonderful .AHHHH well dreams are so enjoyable :wink: $599 is unbelievable pricing. Jackie, looks like Joey has you covered with the bus and trolley info. We took public transpotation (bus) to the zoo and a taxi back to our hotel which was located near the bay. I think ti was $12. After walking all day- it was nice just to hop in the cab right outside the zoo exit. ok- here is the link to Alberts the restaurant I was telling you about. Jackie I am not sure about the trolley at the pier but you can walk a little bit and pick up the city bus to the zoo. Can't off hand remember the bus number, there are a couple that will take you to balboa park (where the zoo is located) I will see if I can find the info. Also, i wan tto tell you about this great little restaurant in the zoo. I will also have to look up the name. but the food is great and the outside dining is like you are in the middle of the wood. very nice and relaxing. The zoo is fun. Loved the pandas. Take the bus tour- either the on and off or the express for a god overview. how long are you in port? SD is such a great city! Gail

We fly direct JFK to Tel Aviv for the first part of our tripand then direct from Tel Aviv to Barcelona for the cruise portion of our vacation. On return flight, we fly Venice to Dublin (overnight in Dublin) to JFK. So no Heathrow for us. Good luck with plans to reroute for all who are thinking of doing so. Happy monday, everyone!

OMG, I will go crazy without my camera.... I will of course also go crazy without my IPOD. Hope the international flights will allow these items in your carry ons in October. I will gladly go without my makeup, toothpaste, etc but not without my camera and IPOD.... PLEEZZZZZZ... :grin:

We didn't visit Bridgetown but took and off road jeep excursion to tour the island and then snorkeling. We found the island beautiful and the people extremely friendly. We'd love to go back again. When we were there, the Queen Mary 2 was in port. pretty cool. They had just recently dredged the harbor deeper to accomadate the larger ships. That sounds like they want more cruise business...

Good question, joey. I would be interested in that information especially if wine the wine is cheaper than what we can buy here at home. I know, instead of wine and olive oil, lets go jewelry shopping :grin:

Geez, Jackie... how are you going to bring home all that olive oil now? no liquids on the carry ons :sad: Better to be safe but it is too bad to be restricted again. We have not recieved an excursion book either. Looks like it would be fun to look through. You can pick out other places to travel for future trips... isn't that what excites all of crazies! :grin:

Paula our thougths are with Trish and everyone traveling by air today. yes, i keep telling myself that the money we saved for not havinga balcony will go to excursions but I will definitely miss it. better no balcony, then no trip :wink: Enjoy your time off! Gail

Tonia, i'm with you.... travel is what i am working for. I figure if I can work a few more years, i will be able to play more and play means TRAVEL! I like to plan a new trip as soon as i get home from the last. All three kids thru school. and on own, 2 married, we are getting there. one more wedding to pay for.

question for the seasoned cruisers...... looking at the dress attire- on the nights that say informal- is it really suppose to say semi formal. if not what is the difference between informal and casual? thanks for the clarificaton

Joey Thank you for going to so much trouble for all of us... it is nice to know the reason why some are eligible and others are not. Not knowing the reason for something drives me nuts. You do good work, my friend :smiley: so did everyone have a good weekend? my best friiend can to vist for the weekend to help me go through two sets of parents household items to get ready for an estate garage sale we are having in two weeks. Got to love a freind like that. She is the best. Lot of work but more enjoyable working side by side with someone. we will be so glad when thie sale is complete...my basement and garage are full to capacity with all the stuff. take care everyone! We checked with our TA and she inquired with Celebrity but was told there was no current senior discount. The pricing for the cruise was now more than we paid so she said she did not want to push it with them BUT, do you guys think if we contacted celebrity ourselves we would get anywhere...we make our final payment tihs week we are both over 50 but are not AARP members. Don't know if that is the difference. Sure would love to qualify. The extra bucks would have been nice Oh.... thanks for the Santarini bus schedule- i had the routes but not the timetable. it will be very useful. Gail
