PamJ
In a few weeks we'll be traveling to these three islands for the first time. In our group we have a 10yo, almost 6yo, mommy and daddy who have cruised a couple of times and 4 first time cruising adults. We are definitely going to RELAX. The least 'touristy' the better. We are considering going out on our own instead of the cruiseline's shore excursions. Any suggestions, ideas, thoughts? Thanks ahead of time. CanadianCruiser
HI Pam What ship are you traveling on ?
rogue
Hi Pam. There are great beaches on all of those islands. Snorkeling is also great for those that may want to do that. I think you'll have no trouble finding what you want. Enjoy!
PamJ
We are on Holland America's Zuiderdam (if that gives you an idea of how laid-back we are planning to be ). We will also be going to their private island (Half Moon Cay) but don't plan to do any shore excursions there. We each have our own snokeling gear that we are bringing along. Which beaches are the best for snorkeling and can we get there by foot? Also, about half of us love to hike - including the kids. Any suggestions in that area? If you can give me suggestions about specific things on specific islands that would be awesome! Thanks again! PamJ
CanadianCruiser
HI Pam Check out Godfrey tours for his tour and beach stop for St. Thomas In Grand turk, there is a cruise ship center with stores and a quaint beach, and also a margarittaville with a pool you can use..... have a great cruise... PamJ
Thanks for the suggestions. I am thinking of going to St John's to Trunk Bay or Cinnamon Bay. What are your thoughts on that? Can Godfrey tours help me out there? What is the terrain like on the way to the ferry - I have a problem with car sickness - oh wait, I'll have taken care of that because of the motion sickness from the cruise. Is it a nice easy ride or rough, rushed ride? Would you recommend one Bay over the other? Thanks again...
zebra
Pam, the Trunk Bay excursion is definitely the least touristy. The snorkeling is wonderful, the kids will have a blast. Most of the St. Thomas excursions are pretty touristy by comparison.
