My in-laws bascially did that pound a day thing on their recent Summit cruise. We've never been that bad, but we usually gain a bit. One cruise, my wife got pneumonia on the second last day of 10 days, and came home having lost a few pounds. Not a good way to do that LOL
You mean you just got off a HAL ship and didn't see the future cruise booking desk? Many lines already do this type of thing, and usually provide a cabin credit for that future cruise. You can also assign that booking to your local travel agent. I don't think you need to book a specific cruise either, but that could be different from line to line.
I agree it is a great way to get people to book a new cruise, though. That desk is probably busiest in the last couple days of a cruise too.
We were just talking to our Grand Princess friends from our cruise over 4 years ago, and we are looking at going with them in late 2005. Not gonna be Carnival though. They want to do Princess again after venturing away, and as I've said, I haven't seen anything yet to match the Grand. I am willing to try RCI (that Mariner out of Port Canaveral looks interesting). Will have to keep my eyes open as the itineraries for then start coming out.
With the gas prices these days, I'd never do an Excursion. Anything Expedition and larger is too much of a gas guzzler.
Oh wait, you aren't talking Ford SUV's here, are you? LOL

If I lived near a cruise port, and didn't have these 2 money pits, I mean kids, I might repeat the same ship a few times. But, since our cruises seem to be few and far between, I seriously doubt we'll be repeating any ships. Wouldn't rule it out though, if a previous ship (that we really liked) happenned to be on an itinerary we liked at the time we were going.
There isn't a cam that I know of that shows the ships in Miami. There used to be one that you could see them leaving Government Cut, but I don't think it's operating anymore.
Princess has really gone through a major expansion lately. Diamond Princess, Caribbean, and next month, the Sapphire. That's over 3000 new crew members to get trained and up to snuff. Considering the expansion lately of other lines, I'm thinking that service levels are going to suffer a bit everywhere. Of course, some people have higher expectations too.
Definitely have her talk to her doctor about what she can take. There is some prescription morning sickness medication available, so taking that might also help with any seasickness. Also, those seaband wrist things (which I've never tried) could be used. I have no idea how effective they are, but they work on pressure points in your wrist to help alleviate motion sickness, so I'm told.
We cruised when my wife was about 24 weeks along with twins, and she was fine (other than all the washroom breaks on the 9 hour drive to the ship LOL).
