Chris, that pretty much describes us, too. I have four formal gowns (two of which began life as bridesmaid dresses, lol). I rotate them, except for the one time we had four formal nights!
I try to change them out with different pieces of jewelry or a different hairstyle.
Cancellation policies vary by cruise line, and then by length of cruise, and possibly by itinerary or time of year.

If I have to cancel my cruise, will I get a refund?
You will get a full refund if you notify us in writing 70 days (60 days for 3 & 4-night cruises) prior to your sailing date. Consult the chart below to determine the cancellation charges applicable later.

We dined in alternative restaurant only once -- on HAL -- and it was a gift. I would, however, have no qualms about dining in one of the specialty restaurants on Celebrity's M-class ships, but that is because of the historical ambiance, not the food. (I can't wait to "meet" Olympic on my upcoming Celebrity cruise.)
