  1. Thanks for this information. We need to pass on this one, but cannot wait to read your posts and see your pictures. Great advice about saving $25/week.
  2. Love food. Love reading about it. Love watching cooking shows on t.v. Question for you: In addition to the tips that we give, we like to bring small gifts from Arizona to our staff and crew that have gone above and beyond. Any ideas?
  3. Beautiful pictures Jan. Thanks for the reminder that we can relax when we are on a cruise.
  4. I can't wait to retire and be able to cruise at will. Guess I need to start rolling the coins that are saved in the glass jar!!!
  5. Incredible! Amy, had to laugh at your take on final payment. Our "let's book the next cruise" is usually decided as soon as we buckle the seat belt on the runway at Tucson International Airport. I found an 8-day Celebrity Century in Australia that I liked. Told Jerry about it. He said, "we haven't even taken this cruise and you're already talking about the next one." Sometimes I just need to plan it and then tell him ...
  6. I, too, do not recall reading or hearing anything about this. I wonder if it's because the ship is not stranded in the middle of the ocean in the heat???
  7. Very well stated everyone. I agree. I think a shorts allowed at dinner is a dis-respect to the aspect of cruising. Sure, it's Disney and it's catering to families. BUT .. how short is short and how skimpy is skimpy. Another reason not to cruise Disney
  8. Thanks for the article, Jason. I have many food restrictions and meet with the dining staff as soon as we get on board. I have found everyone to be incredibly accommodating!
  9. We have only sailed out of Tampa once and cannot wait to sail from there again. GREAT city! GREAT experience
  10. A number of years back we signed up for the Celebrity credit card. Came with all the bells and whistles you listed above. Lo and behold, about 3 years ago the card was sold to Bank of America. Sure I have points, but they now expire and it takes a zillion to get even a $25 on board credit on a ship. I have kept this card because it is the only one that I have and I use it for travelling. Will I take advantage of the new one? NOT AT ALL. Thanks for the updated information, tho.
  11. Marci, it's amazing how those who are hooked on cruises are hooked on cruises. Thank you so much for your stories. I love them
  12. Love your writing style. Thanks for the humor
  13. I'm jealous. We live no where near any port! Woud love to sail out of NYC
  14. Guess I'll be joining all of you on the Lido deck at the crack of dawn ...
  15. Thanks, Jan, for the pictures. Really makes us want to see Alaska. Right now the air is more than the cruise. But I keep looking ...
  16. Even though we stay up later than usual, we tend to wake up at the same time. Must be that internal alarm clock that goes off. But, we do take lots of naps ...
  17. I'm confused! I have seen MANY weddings on all of the cruise ships that we have been on. So, is this a NEW-NEW idea or just another NCL marketing idea? Sounds to me like NCL is marketing "ports of call" weddings. The $1600 doesn't cover any airfare or hotel stays ... I say get married on the ship. The only drawback -- you better really love the folks you invited to the wedding! They will be with you for the duration of your honeymoon.
  18. Great review Jan. We haven't been to Alaska, yet. Definitely on our bucket list. We, too, just LOVE San Fran.
  19. Thank you, Jan, for your take on this. This is an interesting topic that most probably does not have a resolution. But it does make you stop and think and take notice about what we will and will not put up with.
  20. There was a radio poll this past week regarding sleeping habits while on vacation. Got me thinking ... Do you wake up at the same time or do you sleep in when you are on a cruise?
  21. Karen, you are so right. They are giving this to you. You go girl!! Sarge, we have been in your shoes on all of our other cruises. By the time it's cruisetime, the cost of the ship is up, up, up. So you did get a good deal! Congrats on final payment.
  22. Jerry is a smoker. He also asks fellow balcony neighbors if the smoking will bother them. Most of the time we have found that our neighbors also smoke. I can see Disney's point of view and they are entitled to their rules. Just means we won't be cruising on Disney. Vinegar removes any smoking odors!! While I don't permit Jerry to smoke in the house, his clothing still smells. I have a small, open container with vinegar in it. No smells at all.
  23. Have a wonderful vacation. Can't wait to hear about it
