  1. I pack one huge suitcase, one rolling suitcase, and a daypack. It's a lot for one person, but I have many "cruise-specific" things like snorkeling gear, wide-brimmed hat, water shoes, etc that takes up a lot of space. I will have to pack less tho for upcoming cruises, since I just had a baby and will have loads of baby stuff to carry!
  2. Being very new to the world of cruising (I started in May 2010), I have never heard of this happening. Frankly, I'm shocked! I feel it would have been reasonable for RCCL to arrange flights for the couple as well. Perhaps that is naive of me, but it did not seem they were apologetic about overbooking, therefore I would not be apologetic about trying to arrange free transportation.
  3. I love your reference to the Pinch Me Now moment- that's exactly what cruising is like! Excellent job capturing those feelings and memories and putting them into words.
  4. Thank you for posting this excellent review. Hubby and I have discussed taking a longer cruise, and this seems like an extremely cool one to try!
  5. It's an interesting concept. I agree with Sunluva, if the cruise is properly advertised as a (whatever themed) cruise, it should be just fine. My first cruise was on the Mariner of the Seas, and unbeknownst to me was a Cougar cruise! I was 27, married, and traveling with a friend. Wish I'd known ahead of time- my friend and I didn't realize it until we were onboard and the cruise director mentioned it at the departure party. I guess it comes down to the advertising!
  6. Great list, Jason! Thanks very much for posting. One thing that helped me to remember the difference between port and starboard is that port has four letters, and so does left. The port side is the left side. Hopefully that helps :)
  7. MaryLou, I love the SeaPass card magnet idea! I have all my SeaPass cards, and that sounds like a really cool way to remember the cruises. Thanks for the wonderful suggestion!
  8. "Great week on this great ship" Click here to view the cruise review
  9. We chose the Oasis because I knew my mother would not get seasick, but typically I choose based on itinerary. I'm trying to go to all the places in the Beach Boys' song "KoKomo"
  10. Sounds like an amazing opportunity! I hope you get to go.
  11. Yikes! They only closed the nearby beach to swimmers for two hours? There's no way I would be anywhere near that shark-infested water! Super cool video, thanks for sharing :)
  12. We haven't cruised with Disney yet, but would love to in the future. Thanks for sharing this!
  13. Hubby and I love Airborne too! We always bring it on trips- the berry flavor is pretty tasty, and we feel that it helps us stay healthy. John and Jackie, sorry to hear you have been coming home sick :(
  14. While I have purchased travel insurance for month-long trips to Europe, I have never considered it for a cruise. After what I witnessed this week, I will definitely start getting for future cruises. I just returned home from cruise #7. On my flight to the port, a woman on the plane had a medical emergency. It was like a movie- the flight attendants called for physicians on board, brought out all the medical equipment, etc. Most of the people on the plane had cruise luggage tags on their bags, and it is entirely possible she was on her way to a cruise. If that was not reason enough to consider travel insurance, a few days later, two people had to be air-lifted off the ship! Yikes. My husband and I discussed it, and will purchase travel insurance in the future "just in case" something happens.
  15. Thank you all for your kind words! Today is the day, and I am so ready for some Florida sun and Carribean fun!
  16. The sing-alongs are really fun. I also love "Meet the Captain" sessions, where the captain discusses his background, the ship, then opens up the floor for Q and A.
