Difference between butler and concierge?

I've read that the most expensive accommodations on cruises come, sometimes, with butler service or concierge service. What would be the difference?

Miss C.. the way I approach it is Concierge is an upgrade in ammenities...priority type of benefits and better quality linens and bedding.... where as in Butler you get the upgrades plus an additional staff person assigned to your cabin..

Aboard a cruise ship:

A concierge a person, similiar to in a good hotel, who handles your special requests, dinner reservations, and an excursion request, etc.

A butler is a personal assistant who will unpack your bags, arrange for pressing clothes, and serve you in the stateroom when requested.

Exactly. We have had consier class staterooms.

I like the upgraded perks.

And would very rarely use any extra service.

It's different on every line. We did Concierge Class on Celebrity and liked the upgrades but wouldn't pay a lot of money for them. On RCI Concierge does everything JohnG said and you have a lounge for pre-dinner cocktails and continental breakfast as well. It's only availiable on Voyager & Radiance class ships and the Enchantment and Freedom.

I've never had a butler......would love one someday but that's a dream.

Rose we did it once thats all we could afford...if you can afford it I would do it once .... it was the highlight of our Caribbean trip last year on the century.. every morning he comes and sets the table for breakfast afternoon coffees and teas and goodies.. he picks up and delivers the laundry.. it was just nice... :grin:
