Obxrtist
We are newbies to international flight travel and would appreciate any advice or experience concerning use of luggage locks and straps. With all the changes in airline regulations, we're not sure if locks are even permitted but did see info on TSA's website about using TSA approved locks.
cruisefreak
We were told three years ago to leave all luggage unlocked on an international flight. My luggage was searched (slip inside telling me) on the way over and my friend's luggage was searched on the way home. It doesn't mean that all luggage is searched every flight, but they need to have access to your luggage or they will make access... Obxrtist
Thanks for the info - my DH says I over analyze everything & worry too much - at least I know our bags aren't the only ones that won't be locked! 10 days & counting until we leave for Barcelona & cruise on the Millennium! :cheesy:

JoeyandDavid
Hi again Obxrtist I should say that the TSA administration has great information on this topic. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/locks.shtm
Obxrtist
I checked out the info on TSA's website. Looks like the minimal cost for the TSA approved locks is worth it for peace of mind... so, am ordering locks from Magellan's. I really appreciate the input... this site has been a God-send with all the info it provides - THANK YOU!!!! Becky

jacketwatch
 TSA locks are a better alternative but not a 100% solution. Why? When we arrived in our destination airport last August one of three bags was missing its TSA lock! As it turned out the lock, twisted open and useless, was in the bag. All the items were intact AND I got a bonus of sorts. In that bag were chargers for Nokia, Canon and Sony products none of which was ours. There must have been a free for all in bag inspection and someones elses property got tossed on our bag. But thtas not all. One of our tablemats said all three of her TSA locks were G O N E! Go figure. Still I will contimue to use them.
