Repeating Captains

Have you gone on a cruise where you end up seeing and associating with the same captain? Do you like conversing with ship's captains?

Hi Orrymain! I do enjoy meeting the captain and chatting with him...on our honeymoon cruise..many years ago, we got invited to the captain's room for a party. It was a lovely party, and I really liked the captain...he was British, and had a great sense of humor. Haven't had too much interaction with the captain on other ships. Chatted with the captain awhile on our first Hawaii cruise on "The Constitution." It was the last cruise for that ship, and the captain was retiring. Also got to meet the captain once on a bridge tour on the "Norway" a few years back. Mostly we have just shook hands at the Captain's parties. We have never dined with the captain at the captain's table.

We have meet a few Captain's while touring the bridge and at the Captains Q & A, some we have had the pleasure of sailing with several times but on different ships. It is always enjoyable to hear their experiences but we don't go out of our way to meet most of them.

We take advantage of the Captain's party. Only on one cruise was the captain actually in a room next to ours. So we made it a point of "chatting" each time we saw him. Other than that, we don't go out of our way to find him/her. (Like how I put that there?)

My first captain was very outgoing. He loved to visit with the guests. He would shout up to us from the ... uh -- what do you call them -- the sides of the bridge they use to make sure they don't hit anything ...lol. I liked him a lot.
