  1. I agree, much more fun meeting new people
  2. I hope that I'm not scaring anyone off, but of course photos will be available to be purchased BEFORE I post them
  3. I hear what you are saying Tut, this cruise started out just the wife and I and our youngest son. Then our daughter and her boyfriend asked if they could go with us and in between a couple of friends said that would like to join us, then I contacted Jason and we added 2 more couples (Teacp and friends), lost another couple on line(they just disapeared, haven't heard from them in a month). So here we are with a group, and there is still room for more, so if there is anyone else who would like to join us feel free!!! Just look at this thread from the begining and see if you want to join some of the Crazies. I promise to bring the digital and take pictures  and just remember this ain't Vegas, I will provide full detailed discriptions and photos to boot. Hope that doesn't scare anyone off.
  4. I'll have to check that one out also!!! Thanks JB
  5. Where are you flying out of? Because I know that American Airlines(I think) is having a special that ends Oct 28th. The reason that I know this is I am going the other way East to West the week before our Thanksgiving and the prices went up. But I still waiting for the DEAL to come thru.
  6. Is that Canadian or US $ ? What I do is go to Travelocity and put in where I am going and when I am leaving plus or minus 1 day, and they come back with a decent price, then I will save it and wait for them to update the price. If you do far enough out you might get a better price by waiting to see what the market will bring you. It's all a guessing game, same with cruises, early or late, or see if they are going to run a special.
  7. Okay now I am confused, I guess we are all the same age   , I think. Now for part two, I'll have to think about that
  8. That would make us approximately the same age!
  9. Don't show your age but how many generations are we talking about? I can still remember as a kid our exchange was Oriole 6-
  10. Joey that has to be a line from an old movie. Which one?
  11. Darn! First time I try and be serious, and you think I'm being funny
  12. Do like I did, ask real nice, then send him a large bribe. ps Jason the check is in the mail
  13. Here is a bump, just to keep everyone looking and to see if we can add some more to our group. Joey maybe you should do the same to keep your group out there!! Chris H
  14. I'll have to say I do enjoy your quick wit  I just hope everyone else does!!
  15. Thank you JoeyandDavid and Cheryl, very few people have ever said that about Correction Officers as normally the only press that we do get is of the bad kind. Example, military prison in Iraq, I will say that I actually got into the business because of the pay and benefits. But as we say around here it's a family business as both my older brother and younger brother are also officers and my oldest son just started working for the Federal Prison system after getting out of the military. Prior to this line of work I was a Land Surveyor and have a degree in Forest Engineering.
  16. Having been thru a hurricane or two, Dennis should be well past by the 27th, now the ports of call might not be, as of now it is a catagory 4.
  17. Thank you Cheryl One of the main reasons that I like coming to this board is because everyone is so friendly and up until today I have never seen an insulting remark made, some differences of opinion, but no insults. To Joey, you are the diplomat, I had to hold back and wait a few hours before I posted this time. I too work in law enforcement, and if ever there was a job that could make you bitter towards society as a whole it would be the one that I do every single day. I work in a medium security prison, that houses 500 plus convicted felons. Believe it or not I usually don't lock my house when I go out, the keys to my motorcycle are in the ignition in the garage, and I don't lock my car. Why? Small town mentality, maybe, or it could be that I'm just overly trusting of my fellow man. I too was shocked at the bombings in London, could it happen here again, of course it could. Am I going to fear for my life every time I leave the house, of course not, if that happens they win!! Fear and intimidation is their main weapon. If I walked into work and onto a housing unit with 65 inmates, if I did not present myself in a strong professional manner, if I showed any kind of fear surely someone would pick up on it and I would be at their mercy. Have I ever been afraid at work, Hell yes, in the middle of a small riot almost 13 years ago, stand down, Never. Terrorists are just big bullies, they want you afraid, they want you to hide, they will do that if you let them. Just remember you probably have a better chance of getting hit by a truck crossing the road then you do of getting blown up by a terrorist. Just think about that the next time you step off that curb. Sorry I had to get that off my chest, now back to the easy living and talk of cruises and family and such. Chris
  18. Okay Joey we must be thinking alike and at the same time at that  you just happen to type faster than I do
  19. Most of us that are planning travel after Dec 2005 are running into the same problem, not only that some of us live very close to the Canadian border and this has become a big issue as they want everyone to have one just to cross over for a visit. My suggestion and I've seen it posted on this board elsewhere is to go to the source. http://travel.state.gov/passport if nothing else it will give you a place to go for updates on the changes that haven't gone into effect and aren't even law as of yet!! Hope this helps.
  20. For those that have been procrastinating, good news  I just got off the phone with Jennifer and she said that we can still have the original price that was quoted in the beginning. So if you are interested go to the start of this thread and get the #'s and give her a call.
  21. Lisa63 our youngest also has similar impairments and has to be treated a little different from the two older sibs, he is 15 with about a 3 year delay. Our biggest worry are the other kids that he is with, as he is easily led.
  22. GottaCruz-speaking from experience, girls at that age are a handful, our daughter went from sweet and innocent 12yr old to something that is hard to discribe. It took till she was almost 16 before she realized that her parents were just trying to keep her from getting into trouble, it was a long 4 yrs!!! She will be 23 this year, is a certified pre-school teacher, working as a nanny while still attending college.(GPA 3.8) We are very proud of her, did I say that there is a spot on my head where I pulled my hair out? Now my oldest was the easy, since sports was his life if he did anything out of line we would cancel a game, a weeks worth of games, a month, a whole season once. Peer pressure works when the team is losing because a player is watching from the stands! And we would bring him to watch.
  23. After reading the posts on this subject I'll put in my 2 cents worth. Kids will be kids no matter what, they will act the way their parents taught them to while in public. You will have the occassional child who will not take direction and will always cause trouble, then there is the perfectly behaved child that has the wild parents and they can be worse than the kids because they should know better. As for being on vacation and having to deal with them, if you don't want to be around kids(good or bad) book when school is in session, try adults only cruises or resorts, or just stay at home(not always the preferred option). When ever I see kids on vacation (or anywhere else) I try and think about what I was actually like at that age and how I behaved, but then again I was the perfect child and never did anything wrong   , at least that is what I like to say now that everyone is old enough where they don't or can't remember what I was like. Although my mother who's memory is as sharp as can be likes to tell my kids exactly what I was like, Thank goodness she never heard half the stories.
