  1. Welcome back Jennifer, glad you had a good time, sorry it had to end. The good part is that you can start planning your next one!!!!
  2. If you'll notice Joey is much better at it then I am :undecided:
  3. Why of course Joey!!! bkworm after awhile you'll notice people posting back and forth to each other just for the heck of it
  4. You aren't the first and won't be the last to ask that question, it also helps us boost up our # of posts just explaining to new members
  5. Welcome aboard Julie, can't add anything that hasn't been said already, Alaska is beautiful, my wife and I lived in the interior for 3 1/2 yrs. We never got a chance to get down that way but someday soon we'll take the same trip!!!
  6. Donna once you get on the ship you'll forget about everything else. Get on board wander around, find out where all the important things are. Like food, drink, food, and drink, get something to eat then find your cabin. After the emergency drill wander around some more, meet some of the people you will be traveling with, get something to eat and drink. The thing is to just relax and have fun!!! Don't forget on Carnival they have ice cream and pizza 24/7
  7. As soon as you get on board, have a few cocktails, maybe a little bubbly and try to have the bestest of times!!!!!
  8. Doin the Doc dance!!! Way to go - shake baby shake it
  9. Sue I know this isn't going to be any help to you but I called my Carnival PVP today to check on our cruise in April, it actually took three days to get through to her, and she said they were swamped with calls. Mostly like you wondering about what to do because of the hurricane. She basicaly said that with limited resources they have been doing the best that they could. What with the people at the top making decisions and trying to move ships around at the last minute to avoid severe weather and accomidate passengers already on those ships and passengers getting off. I have a feeling that it has been a long couple of weeks for everyone that is involved with the cruise lines. Just wanted you to know that there is someone out there that cares, you just haven't had the chance to talk to them yet! Good Luck!
  10. Welcome Harvey - It's good to see that you found us and started posting already, hope your cruise goes as planned!
  11. Joey make sure you pack the little neck pillow so David can get some sleep on the flight home!! I'm sure that you'll be up bright and early with him to lend support and help unpack the bags and such. As soon as he is out the door and on the way to work you can go back to bed and get some rest
  12. It's like the worst nightmare for a vacation that I can think of, first not knowing if you will be able to fly in, then not knowing if the ship will be there. Good luck, I hope that everything works out for you, and stay safe!! As an after thought, would travel insurance cover this kind of incident?
  13. Joey, sorry it took so long, a lot of things going on here will explain at another time. Just so happy for you and David, it sounds like such a nice surprise and what a B'day present!!!
  14. When we were on the Valor in January the system still had some bugs in it, otherwords it didn't work quite right all the time, and we just used it in the cafe. Yes there are charges, of course there are always charges, they have a few different packages available the most expensive being the all inclusive start to finish deal. I guess if you use it all the time it would be worth it. We paid in blocks of minutes and hardly used all of them. Of course it was used only to check email to make sure that the house hadn't burned down and the kids and animals were still alive  Nice as it is to be able to stay in touch, I agree with Jeff the reason for a vacation is to get away from it all.
  15. Fair Lawn, Jeff we were neihbors around that time, I moved to NJ in 69'. Finished HS in 74', worked in and around the area till deciding that college was the way to spend some productive time   . Lived right on North Maple Ave - went from HoHoKus all the way into Fair Lawn. Small world eh! The best information on the Bermuda cruise that I can give you is this, it is a Carnival cruise, The Legend, leaves NYC on thursday April 20 2006 and returns Wednesday April 26 2006. On the return trip it stops at Newport RI. The price has changed since they first advertised it, so I will say that the best bet would be to call the Carnival PVP(personal vacation planner) that we have been using, she can give you a complete update on what is available and the price. Her name is Jennifer Martins, 1-800-819-3902 ext 82965 So far we have 16 people(8 full cabins), 5 of which are the core group that I started with, three of these consist of mainly family and the other two are good friends. Maria(teacp) joined on and brought with her another couple, the last couple are from Conn. who I also met online and joined us within the last week or so. Please feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.
  16. ps416 welcome to Cruise Crazies, as Maria said we have a group going to Bermuda in April of 2006, the prices have changed since we first posted but you are more than welcome to join us. What part of NJ are you from? I lived in Ridgewood for a number of years and another in our group also lived in NJ before moving north.
  17. Ann I hope you are keeping a record of this, sometime in the near future if you told someone this story from start to finish they would never believe you. I keep saying write a book or a long magazine article, I will be your agent in the US for a small fee, say 80 %
  18. Guil congrats on finding the site, happy to see you on board!!!!
  19. Congrats on the booking, I'm sure you will enjoy Alaska, Karen and I spent 3 1/2 years living in the Interior way back when.
  20. Joey I also own a Fuji finepix, not really sure of the model because Karen has absconded with it. It takes great pics and has some nice add ons, one of the few that has lens that are changeable. Mine is three yrs old and at the time I paid just over $350 for it but prices have come down and the memory cards are unbeleivable. On our cruise in Jan I borrowed a 156mg(I think that is what it was) took well over 200 pics with the setting just below fine(you are able to blow up photo to 8x10 with out loosing anything. I'm sure you will hear from everyone on their favorite brand, so pick and choose as there are a lot of nice equipment out there. For pricing I would try Best Buy just to give you an idea of the current cost of cameras, then do your normal search on the internet
  21. That should be your new mantra "Don't worry, it will be fine"
  22. Thanks Chris, anything else that you can tell us about it?
