  1. My wife always gets on my case for having too much luggage. . . the real problem with that is no matter what luggage I have or decide to use, I PLAN to leave some room to bring stuff back from where ever it is I am going. She NEVER has a problem filling up her suitcase (overweight) and then asking me to take a couple extra pair of shoes or something . . . Enough to fill it past capicity. . . My bags seem to last quite a while. I have bought a few bags from REI.com in their clearance section, and have a friend who gets me OGIO bags at cost. all of those bags, especially OGIO have held up for MANY trips, cruises and getaways. As for bags, I believe you get what you pay for. . . Good luck. .
  2. I must say that if you want to look elegant, I would say you have to wear some sort of skirt, dress or other for women. Call me old fashioned, but if I wore slacks and a nice shirt as opposed to a tux, I would not be as formal as I could be. Just my two cents.
  3. Cheryl, I have always sailed out of Galveston on all the cruises I have been on. I have stayed in Houston and near Galveston. I have not stayed in Galveston as I find the hotels are usually unavailable or expensive. I did stay once in Texas City across the bay one time. I stayed at a Marriott Fairfield (I think) - Anyway, it was Marriott, because I used points to pay for the room. It was a nice hotel and just 16 miles away from Galveston. It was a nice place and I felt very safe there. It was not in the heart of the refineries, but near a Mall that did not seem very busy. There were places to eat and I did not get lost. Anyway, this may not be the answer you were looking for, but it can be an option for you. Plan on about 50-60 dollars to park each car for the week at the parking lot by the pier. Let me know if I can help more. . . I am sure there a lot of people who will have good feedback for you on this one.
  4. I have never driven a bus in England before? I have only been the passenger. This has to be wrong! At any rate, it was fun.
  5. I like to rent a car for about $40 and drive around the island. Stop at beaches and play in the ocean. We have done that a bit and loved it!
  6. Nooooo Problem mon. . . I think Joey's picture says it all. I would certainly go with a tour on this one. Jamaica can be stressful with everyone wanting your money. More so there than any other place I have visited on an excoursion.
  7. I check a few sites . . Vacationstogo.com (A travel agency) and others. Shipboard credit is offered by some of the agencys that is the same as a direct discount to your fare as you always spend some money on the ship. Skipper and Robert are well traveled and have great suggestion. Don't forget to look for all the perks that are offered by other agencies. Sometimes the cruise lines direct offer perks as well. Good luck! I don't think there are any secrets, you just have to check all the places and make it work best for the time you are going.
  8. I would bet REALLY big money that they both don't make it the 1000 days alone together. Especially the 23 year old.
  9. Sounds like you had a great cruise! Thanks for the review. I enjoyed reading it.
  10. I had no idea that this sort of thing still happens with the technology they have these days on those ships? The captain said that they got caught in a strong current and could not do anything about it? I find that highly unlikely. To lose an entire cruise ship from neglegence seems like a crime. I wonder if they get a refund on their fare? VERY unfortuanate.
  11. I think they left out the most important part. . . the part that calls them: IDIOTS!!!![/size]
  12. Sounds like you had a great time! I am so glad you had a memorable experience. Here is a pic of us from last month.
  13. Welcome Home Skipper. I am anxious to hear how your cruise was and how you enjoyed everything! I look forward to your review!
  14. Valeri and I were on the Grand exactly one month ago. Glad we were not on this voyage. All of us have cruised, not sure how you fall overboard? Howard, Those statistics speak loudly.
  15. I would leave the car seats home. Mexico doesn't have laws for that. (For that matter, I leave the younger kids home too, but that's just me.)
  16. Any way you stack this up, look at it or compare it, the guy deserved to at least take himself out of the gene pool. I just don't understand how stupid a person has to be before doing something like this.
  17. I like this top one because you can see how big these ships really compared to all the busses in the parking lot!
  18. Skipper, I can't wait to hear how you liked it. I am sure it will be just what you were looking for! Butts up!
  19. Skipper, The actual cave tubing was great! The water was warm and the caves were beautiful! They were dark at times, but the lighting worked pretty well and the guys who took us were great! Make sure you book through Cave-tubing.com and not the ship. You will pay half the price and get 4 times the service! These guys rocked!
  20. Packing stinks! Have a great cruise!
  21. I sailed the Grand Princess last week and did not see any of what you are talking about to be an issue. The people who wanted anytime dining loved it and I opted for Traditional Dining and loved it! I think it is handeled VERY well on this cruise line and see it as a plus to cruise with Princess. I would recommend them very much and would like to try the traditional dining next time I cruise with them.
