We did a catamaran with Carnival here and it was pretty unspectacular. The dive spot was really crowed (there were seven other cats there) and the water was murky. The alcohol started flowing the moment we left the dock and there were some pretty intoixczted folks in the water. The best part of the entire trip was the 55 minute ride back to the docks and watching really drunk people trying to carry three or four beers to the upper deck as the cat bounced around. The music was pretty current top 40's with some Mexican tunes thrown into the mix. No oldies or c/w that I remember. We were told later that catamarand is short for party excursion - we just wanted to snorkel and felt that we were shorted in that department. Plus the crew seemed more concerend in getting you to buy stuff from the on board vendors than wathicng out for you. As you can probably guess, we weren't impressed with this particular excursion. I have nothing against drinking, but drinking and diving don't mix. Charlie

It would be great if Carnival would combine all the different programs under one umbrella, sort of like what they did with the 'star alliance' for the different airlines. If people keep asking, who knows? it might just happen. If you don't ask, the answer is always no. Charlie

I'm at a loss to see why anyone would want to be on a ship so large that you feel like you're on land. Sort of defeats the purprose it you ask me. Think I'll stick with the smaller ships. Charlie

Okay - have to say that the best things we brought home from Alaska were: handcarved wooden salad bowls, a stuffed toy bunny with antlers (he's very cute, we call him Moose) and a mosquito trapping kit - it comes with a tiny trap, similar to a bear trap, a teeny knife and an instruction book on how to skin your mosquitos and what to do with the pelts - this is my kinda souvenir. Charlie

It's also on the "Contact" cd. "Contact" is a dance show and can be found in the Musical section of your local CD store. Charlie
