I'm looking forward to it! I've done two land trips and one cruise to Bermuda, and it was the most relaxing cruise ever! Three days in port (St. George, in 2008) makes it so easy to come and go with no rush to get back to the ship! Can't wait to ear what Shon has to tell us!

I have to say I am guilty of "which way is forward?" particularly when getting off an elevator on a deck of cabins. I could use a GPS here, as I couldn't read a deck map to save my life. Just call me directionally challenged. Since there are no windows on the way to my cabin, I can't tell which way the water is moving, and I very often find myself turned around. By the time I've figured it all out, it's time to disembark.

Nice review MaryLou - brings back memories when we went to Bermuda on the Summit - Judy and I also loved the T pool and wished it were on all ships. We loved the Summit and that was before the redo. Service and food are always top notch on Celebrity. Very much looking forward to sailing with you and Jim on the newer Eclipse!

    Good points, Sarge.
Although I've been on a weight-loss plan recently, it'll all be shot to pieces once I pack my bags and leave on our next cruise or land vacation. There's just too much to do, see, and, dine on to worry about calorie counting. We like our quiet times with a book or blog writing on board, but usually walk the jogging track or promenade (if there is one) for some exercise first thing in the morning. That way I feel I've burned some calories - especially on sea days. Our port visits have lately involved a lot of walking and helps to counteract any overeating we do on board.

Jan115 got a reaction from dmoten in Queasy Beads for Motion Sickness: Has Anyone Used Them?
Yes, Mike and Amy - I think that is true for sailings - especially from Vancouver. However, I recently read a review of the Grand Princess to the inside passage from San Francisco which was forced to miss their first port of Juneau because of very rough seas and fog along the northern Pacific coast with the ship having to reduce speed. So, I think I better be prepared - just in case.

Chrissy always makes fun of the fact that I either lose or maintain my weight post cruise!! I allow myself to indulge in EVERY food item the ship can (literally) throw at me!! I don't watch what I eat and I don't work out onboard (never really understood the "exercise" thing on a cruise). I think it's the "roaming" I do on a cruise. I try to investigate every inch of the ship so I will walk bow to stern, port to starboard and low to top deck. When you think of it, that's a lot of ground to cover! I also tend to take excursions where there can be a lot of walking involved since I love to take in the local sites and history. Granted, I also like my beach time . Chrissy on the other hand tends to enjoy her down time and reads books or her kindle. Every "body" is different and I'm just lucky enough to be nosy where my activities are exercise within itself! My point, enjoy your cruise and worry about it when you get home!!

Jan115 got a reaction from Sarge6870 in Poll: Trust in cruise lines continues to drop. Your opinion?
I would venture a guess that the majority of respondents to the poll were folks who have never cruised.
I agree that Carnival's reputation was compromised - thanks mostly to blasting by the press.
But I don't believe for a minute that seasoned cruisers - or anyone who enjoys cruising - will have any less faith or trust in any cruise line.

I’m pretty sure it’s Norwegian Cruise Line where the fish pictured in the carpet are always swimming forward. Also, one of the cruise lines has blue/green carpet on one side (port or starboard) and red/orange carpet on the other. I bet there are plenty of other tricks too…
If we can think of enough it might be worthy of its own topic so people can find it here.

Thanks ladies! Actually, I am always prepared with bonine, dramamine or ginger - but have never had to use them. I brought them all for my brother, especially on our last cruise, thinking he would need them as he used to get car sick as a kid. They didn't need them, either. A friend of mine mentioned the beads, and I was just wondering what people thought.
Gina, thanks for the information about bands in general. I wasn't aware of any of it - just that some people have had good luck with them.
I'll stick with my bonine backup!

It's funny -- When you say the words "Disney" and "cruise line" to people who maybe aren't that familiar with DCL, they picture primary colors and non-stop Disney in your face 24/7, but it's SO not like that. The ships, the Magic and Wonder specifically, are so elegant and just gorgeous. The Magic is decorated in an art deco style and the Wonder in art nouveau, and both are classic and stunning with their polished hardwoods, marble floors, and brushed nickel fixtures. Okay, that really did sound like a travel brochure... lol... but all I'm trying to say is they are not what you might expect.
I hope you get to go someday -- with kids or not! I can honestly say that after the 3 lines I've sailed, Disney does the best job hands-down of keeping the adult-only areas truly adult only, and (oddly enough) has a better turnout and better cruise staff support for singles/single parents. I always have the absolute time of my life! And so does my son. :-)
