DebbieandJerry
Norwegian Sun has a 14 day out of Port Canaveral (it's a back to back that they put together) to E/W Caribbean. Doesn't look like anyone posted about this ship since 2005. Is there a reason why? My fondness for NCL is pretty below the tolerance level, but the price is so good and the itinerary is where we want to go. Any input is appreciated. KeithnRita
If the price is right we would say "go for it!" On our review posted on this site the main issue we had with the ship was the freestyle dining. We are probably too old fashion. Most of the folks on the ship book NCL because of freestyle. The buffet breakfast was also not very good, however that's just our opinion based on other ships. As far as the ship itself--we loved it. If the timing and price was right for us we would book it again.
cruisingcats
This I do know is she has been Alaska and they are pulling her from there and positioning her out of Florida. I had a friend who was on her and a really good time. Since we have only been on one cruise and it was NCL we can't compare but we love the freestyle and found the food to be good. If it is a good price I would say go for it. Good luck in your decision.
Seajewel
My family and I crusied on the Sun in Alaska. The ship was clean and the crew were very accomidating. what attracted us to this ship was the price, we couldn't get a better price for a 7 day Alaskan cruise for 4. what I didn't care for was the Freestyle dining. This is only my opinion, but I like sitting at the same table every day with the same people. The waiter and assistant gets to know you and your like and dislikes, versus and new staff every day. Again this is only my opinion. My two sons enjoyed there time as well. So overall I give this ship
DebbieandJerry
I agree with all of your comments about the freestyle dining. We had a horrible time with freestyle on our 10-day in Hawaii and vowed NEVER to cruise with them again. My sister and brother-in-law swear by NCL and love freestyle. So, with that being said, this 14 day is a balcony (with a 6 category upgrade). I went to reverse cruise auction and the lowest "bid" so far is $900 and change for the cruise (now you have to add on the taxes and port charges but those are set). And, they are "throwing in" ship board credit. So very tempting! I'll let you know what we decide. Thanks for the input guys. I knew I could count on you. jacketwatch
It is tempting. My only hedge here is if the food is just so so and service below par then how can you do with two weeks of it? I mean is that too long a time? Yes, good luck with your decision.
DebbieandJerry
Very good point. I guess I really haven't made up my mind because I haven't put any deposit down. The deal "runs out" August 2.
