  1. Whoops... posted in the wrong forum.... Check here: http://www.cruisecrazies.com/forums/index....=ST&f=3&t=10042
  2. This is great news for those of us who travel on business. The only thing is that security lines were a real mess when I flew on Wednesday as there was a lot of confusion amongst passengers as what was permissible to bring -- and how. (I even got a "thank you" from the TSA agent for packing my items correctly.) I hope this confusion eases over time. I only wish that they had not reversed the beverages ban. (This is not mentioned in the above memo, but passengers may bring beverages on the aircraft that were bought in the so-called "safe areas" near the gates.) Once again, I had to contend with the passenger next to me balancing a cup of Starbucks coffee on MY seat before I got there. Thank goodness it did not spill, as this was a full flight.
  3. Thoughts and prayers are on the way to Dwight and his family. I am so sorry to read of this news.
  4. Welcome home, Keith and Rita. And thank you for sharing your photos!
  5. Welcome home, Mary Lou. Glad you enjoyed your extended cruise. I have several friends on the current sailing -- although sailing might not be the right word as they are still in port. This will be a three-day cruise to nowhere, yet they are making the most of it as they are enjoying each others' company.
  6. Several reasons. The cruise industry has also made a concerted effort to attract younger passengers. Larger ships, more activities, comprehensive kids' programs have all contributed to a rise in the number of passengers, and bringing in new cruisers was essential. Cruising is now a family vacation for many -- if they are including the kids in the average, that would certainly bring down the average age of pax. Cruising is not as expensive as it was 15-20 years ago, thereby opening this type of vacation to many (like myself) who would not have been able to afford it in the past.
  7. Bon voyage! I can't wait to hear all about it when you return.
  8. Joey, from what I know based on your previous posts, I feel you would truly enjoy a transatlantic crossing. The days at sea are heavenly -- there are many activities onboard, but most (like I do) prefer the serenity of being at sea for several consecutive days. Happy planning!
  9. lilrosie, as this is your first cruise, I highly suggest you use a TA who specializes in cruises. Make sure the agency is a member of CLIA (it will be indicated in their literature, or look at cruising.org, the CLIA Web site). Even better is if the agent him/herself is an accredited cruise counselor (ACC) or master cruise counselor (MCC) through CLIA. And, while price is certainly a factor, don't overlook the service a TA can provide -- especially when helping you select a first cruise that is right for you.
  10. Thank you all. Would you believe we are not packed yet? At least we've been on this cruise before and know what to expect. Jeff, I have your "Tomorrow" song going through my head right now.
  11. Some added bonuses, which I recently learned first-hand. NCL will also count cruises taken prior to 1995. As these are not currently in the system, pax can send proof of such cruises, such as copy of ticket, billing statement, boarding card, or other items. Call Latitudes for details. NCL may also count some cruises taken on Royal Majesty prior to the ship's purchase by NCL. Again, contact Latitudes for details.
  12. If that turns out to be the case, Keith, the other passengers will flee and I'll have the entire plane to myself!
  13. I agree that RCI -- which includes Royal Caribbean and Celebrity -- has the best program. In addition to the benefits jbond mentioned, there are some shared perks between the two lines. For example, those who have achieved Gold Status or higher in Royal Caribbean's Crown & Anchor Club (after five completed cruises) "receive matching Captain's Club recognition when you sail our sister line, Celebrity Cruises," per the Royal Caribbean Web site. This perk is available only after earning the 5+ status on either line, and cruises cannot be combined, but is still an excellent benefit.
  14. When was the cruise? I don't recall this ship doing this itinerary recently.
  15. My favorite cruise line is, sadly, no longer in existence. It was Dolphin Cruise Line, which operated a small fleet of former liners in the 1980s and 1990s. The food was unbelievable --- there were midnight buffets every night that rivaled the grand buffet held on cruise ships today. Service was impeccable. Crew got to know your names. And, prices were affordable. I don't have a favorite today, as I do find that most of the mainstream lines have a lot in common. However, among my favorites are Princess (for the service and variety of activities) and HAL (the S-class ships). I also have a fondness for NCL as it is the line we have been on the most -- we just have to adjust our expectations before we go, but we still manage to have a great time. (And, we'll be back in two weeks!)
  16. Congratulations on the booking! What a wonderful itinerary, and on such a nice ship, too.
  17. You're welcome, everybody. I appreciate the kind words. Glad you enjoyed!
  18. I dress for dinner every night, whether it's a pantsuit for the casual evenings or an evening gown for formal nights. I'm usually in resort casual wear during the daytime unless I'm sitting by the pool (then, it's swimwear).
  19. I'd go without hesitation. I'd know the ship had a thorough inspection right before I boarded.
  20. Wonderful! I loved how the photos were assembled, and the accompanying text was superb. I felt like I was along for the trip. Thank you for sharing your album!
  21. Welcome home. I'm glad the cruise was everything you had hoped, and more. I look forward to seeing your photos!
  22. I'm a financial researcher/writer and DH is a high school teacher.
  23. I agree that I'd be miffed that all three weren't invited. But, if it were me, after getting over that initial thought, I'd ask my daughter for her opinion. It's possible that, at age 19, she might welcome time without the 'rents (no offense intended). Now, in my real life, my son is only 12, so I would decline.
