  1. We were in St Croix and a passenger jumped from the ship to the ocean. Spent the rest of the cruise in the "brig"
  2. I don't know what is required to make a US shoreline a port, but I'm guessing that taxes and fees are a main consideration. I would love to visit North Carolina.
  3. Would love to read your review. Happy holidays
  4. We've been on the Miracle a number of times. Other than the purple grapes in the dining room ... How was the cruise?
  5. Can't wait for your review. Happy Holidays
  6. I find it interesting that the ships advertise "shows" but not the cost to see the show. Sorry that you paid so much. As for your review, thank you for being honest. Ecstasy is an older ship and is made for the 3 and 4 night cruises. I agree that bigger is not always better. I'm surprised that you had such a bad experience, but you are not letting that interfere with your love of cruising.
  7. We were in Belize in September. There are plenty of kiosks at the dock that will have information about diving. I also believe the ship will have information (at least Carnival did) Happy back-to-back
  8. Wow - I am really sorry that this was another disappointment. Let's hope it isolated to the Liberty and not the trend to RCL. I found your points to be well taken and if you haven't done so already, write to RCL. Your words aren't "complaints" as much as observations, criticism, etc. Jerry and I feel this way about NCL. Burn me once, burn me twice - but call me a FOOL if we sail with NCL a third time.
  9. We had room service on non port days for coffee, tea and pastries. It served as our wake up call and it was really nice to just have that little bit of pampering. One night I tried room service again and was told that it would be over an hour. So I declined. But that told me that folks are really using the service. I'm a coffee lover (ok, snob) and I brought Starbucks VIA with me. Didn't have to use it. The coffee from the lido deck was quite delish and was never burnt, dull or leaving you with a nasty taste. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to address them. I still haven't put my scrap book together. I do have the book with all of the excursions so I can certainly provide info ...
  10. When we were on RCL, I don't recall a charge at Johnny Rocket's. I'm surprised that it's a "now pay" diner. I don't eat beef, but the majority of the cruisers on our Sept/Oct Carnival cruise sure do. The lines at Guy's burgers were as long as the stir fry lines, which told me good food. I liked the side bar with the toppings. Really nice touch that was constantly kept fresh and refreshed.
  11. We loved our stop in New Orleans when we were on the Sensation and I am always looking for cruises that include that city. Can't wait to read your review about the Dream.
  12. We have been on the Freedom at least 3 (possibly 4) times and have loved each cruise. We got back this October and was not at all disappointed. They have made some huge improvements and changes on the Lido deck that will not disappoint. If you have the same cruise director, you will LOVE him. Loaded with personality and truly gets in to the cruising spirit. Didn't do any of the shows. Basically used the 7 days as a true vacation of getting up when we did, eating when we did, doing what we want and sleeping when we wanted to. Didn't plan any excursions and had a wonderful time. Our first stop was Roatan. Jerry stayed on the ship. I got out and walked around. Found a "native" who spent about 1.5 hours talking to me about the island, the tourism, etc. Next stop was Belize. We hooked up with the Red Cross in Belize and volunteered our time. THE most amazing experience ever. Last stop was Cozumel. We took a taxi to Chan Kanaab Park (our favorite place), parked ourselves under the thatched "roof" and people watched. Walked around the park, took pictures like a tourist, went back to the beach and parked again. Gotta love being on island mode. Hope you two get to share in the same type of leisurely experience.
  13. Dear Mike and Amy, I don't require much in terms of packing. Actually, I might have everything already waiting in the spare bedroom. Wish I was sneaking on board with you. Have a great vacation.
  14. Cannot wait to read ALL of the details
  15. Thanks for the honest review. We use to take ship transportation until we figured out that the shuttle service waits until the bus is full to capacity. It doesn't matter to them what time you reserved. So we now bite the bullet and use the taxi. I agree that there is no excuse for being disrespectful. I'm not sure "if they care" I'm glad that you had a good vacation.
