  1. Definitely an island I want to visit, but I will wait for the prices to come down
  2. Will wait to see if Carnival emails or snail mails us with this information
  3. If the issue was the dishes in the hallway - hello?? Fix the problem. Glad to see they reversed the decision. We always bring food back to the room. With my allergies, I have to eat lunch or dinner food for breakfast. I'd be really hungry and upset if I wasn't able to do that.
  4. Have you called Penn Station to see what they recommend? I just went through this with arriving at Hobby Airport and sailing out of Galveston. Interesting that the hotel in Galveston recommended the limo but the airport ground transportation said that the taxi will be half the cost.
  5. Best addiction to have. We felt the same way on our first cruise and could not understand why anyone would want to take a vacation that did not include a cruise ship.
  6. Okay, so I'm confused...but I know that Jan will straighten me out July Norwegian Dawn for one day?
  7. Sounds like Bermuda needs to be on my Bucket List. Great review
  8. My guess is that the ship's registry correlates to the country of origin for employment and there are no taxes to report if your country doesn't do that, which is why the pay can be for so little and the hours for so long.
  9. I agree that you need to do your research before you leave home. However, with that being said - we have always fared better doing our own thing. Shore excursions through the ship offer a sense of comfort, but they are limited to where you stop and how long you stop. I believe that travelers need to be cautious and understand the culture of where they are travelling. If there are all kinds of warnings about safety, then you exercise "safety in numbers" - just like you would state-side. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think we get careless about "things happening" when we are on vacation. That's when accidents happen. And by accidents, I also mean missing the boat because you didn't pay attention to the clock. Great article. Thanks for the reminder.
  10. We always use to book cruise/air through the ship, until we felt comfortable with booking our own. We usually leave Tucson at least 1 day in advance, if not 2. This gives us plenty of lee-way in the event of something happening. We also purchase trip insurance. As for transfers: waiting on a bus until it fills to capacity is not our ideal. We are too much in a hurry to get there. We have also found that taxis are much more economical (especially if you are sharing with other travelers). The last time we were in Ft Lauderdale, the hotel offered transportation to the ship and their charge was much more reasonable (per person) than the taxi or the ship's transportation. Bottom line, you have to feel comfortable in doing a lot of the arrangements on your own and expecting what happens (or does not happen)
  11. We gave NCL 3 tries and that was 3 too many. I'm glad that your experience was more positive
  12. I agree that this is a horrible tragedy. Sometimes I think cruisers have a false sense of security when they are on the ship and don't realize that stuff still happens.
  13. Great tips. Have to add take pictures of luggage contents - never did that before. I do make a list of what I pack, tho. I don't post anything on social media - I'm just too paranoid.
  14. Enjoy the Carnival Magic. Cannot wait to read about this cruise. Bon Voyage
  15. Congrats to Miranda for her Regal Princess cruise. Pack those bags! Bon Voyage
  16. Never had a suite. I'm sure I would love it. We are truly balcony fans. But now that the ships don't allow smoking on the balconies (except for Holland America), I doubt we'll pay for a balcony all the time.
  17. No way for us at all. I am not interested in an all inclusive booze cruise
  18. Seven Seas is so financially out of my league that I cannot even fathom a cruise with them. But, this is great news to the cruising industry.
  19. Am I confused? I always thought ship captains were allowed to marry folks. This is a great promotion for NCL.
