We have only cruised Carnival so I have nothing to compare it to. But the prices are great and the upgrades OMG.......we just got another upgrade and a reduction in price so I have no complaints. It is clean, friendly, the food is good , the staff is great what more could we ask.

We had the aft balcony on the Triumph this past January and it was wonderful. I didn't hear any noise actually it was so quiet and relaxing. The balcony is bigger than the others. Actually it is longer and a little wider( i think 75 sq. ft.) I would most certainly do it again. We had cabin #8434 on the Verandah deck. I will try to post some pictures of the balcony.

We have done both and like both for different reasons. We took three cruise with groups and one just Ken and I. The group cruises are a lot of fun. Everybody mostly doesn their own thing during the day unless you are taking the same excursion and then we all met up for dinner and shows at night. We also liked going alone and having a table for two and just being by ourselves so I am open to both.

Cheryl, We were right below the pool and Lido in January on the Triumph and never heard a thing. You figure by the time you get back to your room for the evening the pool is closed. One night we were getting ready for bed and we heard some chairs scraping for about five minutes and I am sure it was the crew cleaning up but other than that we didn't hear a thing.
