  1. Have been on the bigger ships. Like the smaller ones. Yes. You do tend to run into people more on the smaller ships. Yes. There is way more to do on the mega ships. At this point the wife and I like the Century class ships. Just big enough to offer a lot of both sides. We have cruised on the old Volendam and Veendam - back in the later 70's. So we know what small is.
  2. We cruised out of Galveston this past February. Someone told me you could rent a car from - I think Econoline - for both trips. This ended up as about $50 per trip. You pick up at the airport and they had a drop off at the pier area. Then repeat the procedure when you return. The driving is very direct from the airport to the pier. And you are not at the mercy of filling a bus first. Or Waiting in a long line to get to the bus.
  3. I keep the ship dalies and make some notes on them. They are marked as to what things I did on the ship. Helps me to write a review and other things later.
  4. Yes. Please take some notes. It's nice to hear what each person sees as strong and weak points of each line.
  5. Strip searched I presume.
  6. Century series seems to fit us best. Just enough room to move about without getting leg weary going from place to place.
  7. Bottle of white - bottle of red... Bottle of rose instead....
  8. Celebrity - Galaxy - stopped there on our Panama Canal cruise.
  9. I'm just waiting for the multi level roller coster to be installed on a ship. One that starts at say the entry lounge area. Works it's way to the top of the ship. Then at the top and releases you down - past the engin room. Through the kitchen prep area. Takes a quick bump up through the passanger lower level. Then a sharp turn up to go past the Guest Relations desk. A quick dip and then up the central stair case to go through the Casino. Back through a series of quick S<] turns. Around the back of the main show lounge. Back onto a catch to pick the cars up to just above the pool decks. Then release down through the shallow end of the pool and past the hot tubs. Aroung and through the owners suites. A quick drop back to the entertainment deck to go past the specialty resturants. Then through a few of the main Bar and lounge areas and into the main dining room. Then finally do a series of loops and quick turns as your in the Arcade and finally drop you back down to the entry lounge area. Now that would be something.
  10. Great milestone to pass on the way to 1,000,000. Now pick up the speed. ;)
  11. We would have needed a chord to hold the door open on Zaandam.
  12. 1)Food and service. 2)Then for the ship itself. 3)The onboard entertainment, activities, lectures. 4) Ports of call.
  13. Same here. TA watches for any price breaks or random upgrades.
  14. Good choice - the $155 with parking. And the shuttle. They are charging about $10 per day at the airport and other near by parking lots. The pier parking is about that level also. Good choice.
  15. We usually book onboard then turn the booking over to our TA. She watches out for price drops - specials.
  16. Depends on what line you like to travel on. Carnival or NCL maybe not. But some of the more formal lines you may want to get one. Wife bought me one about 5 years ago. No I have expanded shirts, ties, cumberbun colors. Well worth it. Eliminates any problem with packing something for the formal nights.
