Was talking to my TA yesterday about September Bermuda rates... About $700 per person all inclusive. Zenith out of Port Liberty.
-
Just a price drop on the room we were in. So we moved to a better room with the money saved. I would think this was ship wide.
-
In talking to my TA this AM - I picked up a large discount on my cruise for February 07. Turned that into a upgrade to the outside stateroom. Look into your cruises if your booked.

Cruise Line: Ship Tilt Caused by Human Error
Longboysfan replied to Jason's topic in Let's Talk Cruise!
If they are saying that there was a 16degree lean and there was only a foot or two of water in the pool.... Someones Fibbing. This would have to be about a 30 degree lean to send that much water out. To others who would have you believe it was 80 to 90 should have been washed overboard. 90 degrees and the ship is on it's side. Next move is sink. Somw people will believe anything.   -
More ports - Why worry. In a word CUBA<]. I think the entire Cruise industry is banking on the opening of at least three ports in Cuba once Castro, and the brother, go. They would be addrd to the East - west - southern swings. They have good examples of what a cruise port should be from just about half the islands. The cruise industry is also talking to the islands to increase their ship capacity. And the ability of their ports and port areas to withstand a large storm.

Celebrity by a large margin<] Then maybe HAL and last of the top three RCCL We like the food, service Celebrity provides. The people on Celebrity have been spectacular to my wife and I. Always a smile and hello how are you. They have the right mix of things We both like and like to do. Just enough on board activities and extras to keep us both active and happy. At this point I do not think I would bother with Carnival or NCL.

All my bags are packed. I'm ready to go........ -
We leave a big deposit when we boo our trip. Then pay it off 2 months before we leave. I do know you can make payments for the trip in advance. Your TA should be able to handle it.

World's largest cruise ship to get sister in 2007
Longboysfan replied to Jason's topic in Let's Talk Cruise!
Those are some big ships. We may try one of them somewhere in the future. For the water rides. I'm just a big kid on vacation. -
Yes. I hear a lot of people talk about the lack of a single person break.
-
Stupid question - same for the Celebrity card. Wife wants to get one for the same thing.
-
I think I round the numbers up to $4 a day for the waiter and main room attendent. Then add in some extra. I think I tipped about $320 total the last cruise we were on - 12 day panama canal. Plus some extras here and there.

What possessed you? (to take your first cruise)
Longboysfan replied to KeithnRita's topic in Let's Talk Cruise!
Wife first cruised on the Old Home Lines - Oceanic - This became one of the Big Red Boats. Before Disney made their own ships. While she was single. Well after we were married we went on the Old Volendam out of NYC. This was about 1978 or so. It was a great start. Crusing to Bermuda. I think we have Crusiised to Bermuda about 15 times. 3 Volendams - 2 Veendams - 2 Statendams - 2 Doric - 1 Oceanic - 4 Zenith - 3 Horizon - 2 Galaxy - 1 Millie - 1 Mercury - 1 Summitt - 1 Century and maybe a few others on Celebrity I forgot about - 1 Princess - 1 RCCl - 1 Zaandam. Mixed in here are a few extended cruises - over 7 days. I think I am about 29 weeks at sea so far - Wife is at 32 weeks. Three more week trips without me. But we find cruising is great - lots to do or not to do. -
That was funny. The pictures and the captions.

I'm getting there - Hey it only took 30 trips to get it down. And I'm still refining it. As the line adjusts - I adjust. Making friends with the right people on the boat to make the trip better. Captains Club party - button hold the Hotel Manager. Tell him your having a great time and that _______ is providing great service to you. Write him a note at the end thanking him again point out any special mentions. The ships officers seldom get personal thanks from passangers. You make yourself stand out when you do this. I think this comes as a practiced art as to who and when to do it.

Congrats... Countdown clock will soon be in single digits....

For the price of the cruise - we don't really plan on that - we book what we like and turn it over to our TA for the final numbers. The extras outside that are what seem to get us. Even with the cabin credit and paying it down. I can't seem to shake the extra $$$ spent getting to the boat and getting home. Even with just about all the drinks covered - mostly me via bringing onboard or smuggling or free parties... We always see something to get to make the trip memorable. But why is it always Jewlery. That I don't pick out or wear????<]

I have the Black Tux. But have bought a Black shirt and a blue bow tie and cumberbun to go along with it. I'm thinking of getting a red bow tie and cumberbun for the next trip. That way it does not always look the same. And White stains way too easy.
-
Ouch. When you get on the front of the ship in Miami you can go to the back of the boat and get off in Ft. Lauderdale. Too big for me.
-
No. Rarely watch the major networks anymore. HBO and Sports is enough.
-
what do you try to take on the ship?
Longboysfan replied to frostyboy64's topic in Let's Talk Cruise!
Just some Rum and beer.... Soda we replenish in port. -
Not much is sent into the 1/2 and 1/2 bag. Just some shoes and hair dryers. But I must say I do lay out the outfits and press everything. Then they match them out for me. Then I figure out how many to bring.
-
For first timers... Packing.... Looks at what you have - one outfit per day and one per night. Take 2 of the day outfits out. Make sure - if flying - to weigh your luggage at home. 50 lbs per bag domestic only. If your into hot tubs - pack a bathing suit in your carry on. On Celebrity - Get an aft cabin on a Millie ship. Great place for a get together on the larger balcony. Use the Sushi bar when you can. Great presentation - tasty eats before dinner. There is usually a singer on deck somewhere about 6 pm till 10 pm. Millie ships on the aft outside bar area. Try to fill out your paperwork on line and have your express boarding pass ready when you hit the pier. For multi timers on Celebrity. You can invite any officer level to dine with you. The Cruise staff, Captains Club Hostess, Future sales person are all considered officers. You just have to think about it early on as they have a set schedule as to where they may be some days.   Remember your on vacation together - but can have seperate ways of going about it. I'm out relatively early - 7:00am. Wife sleeps in till 9 or so. She thinks this is a place to relax. I do games, trivia and run about the ship. She finds a nice quiet place to loungs and may go to a craft activity. We do hook up at about 4:00pm for our running card game and or tiles. Then at 6 it's Sushi time. At about 7 or so she departs to have the room alone to get ready for dinner. I'm in about 8 and have everything ready to go and out for dinner together at 8:30.
