What's the scoop with Carlos & Charlies?

It is a place you can go to watch people get drunk and make fools out of themselves, or you can be one of the fools. You can join in the tequila conga lines and have it squirted down you throat. You can also buy shots and have your head shook for an extra affect. Senior Frogs is near by and they are about the same. We liked the old location better when it was upstairs. It added an extra thrill to watch people try to negotiate the steps after a few rounds. The location now makes it a shorter stumble back to your cruise ship!

You can also get a yard long watered down margarita in a souvenir plastic glass to take home. We have ours!alt text

When I began cruising, in 1988, Carlos & Charlies was a small, raucus bar (and restaurant) in the heart of San Miguel, the only town on Cozumel. It had an "Animal House" atmosphere and was a fun place. Lots of drinking, noise, partying, etc;

As its reputation, and profits, grew, it was bought out by the Andersoon Restaurant Chain (Senor Frogs, Shrimp Bucket, etc;). The "new" carlos & Charlies is a little "toned down," from the old days, but it is still a "fun place."

Pretty much just a tourist trap these days. Kinda fun for a couple of hours, but time is so short in most ports who need to kill a couple of hours?

If you have never seen one, might be worth dropping into, but don't start with the "shooters" if you want to make it back to the ship. :wink:

Y'all sound like old sticks in the mud. Carlos and Charlies is a place we wouldn't miss on a trip to Cozumel, after snorkeling somewhere and shopping. http://www.carlosn-charlies.com/charlies/default.asp

A great place to stop before returning to the ship after a fun day in Cozumel.
