Dan
I should say this last cruise had several opportunities for "favourite moments" simply because our friends went with us and it was their first cruise. It was actually Bob's first flight. I was really looking forward to his reaction on take-off, but when the opportunity came up for me and my wife to get exit row seats, I said "enjoy the flight, see you in LA" LOL. Then the next morning seeing their reaction as we drove to San Pedro and we all saw the ship for the first time. The language filter here won't allow me to repeat what they said when they saw the Sapphire sitting there LOL. Nothing like the feeling of introducing cruising to new people. They got engaged on the ship and have booked a 14 day on the Sea Princess for their honeymoon next March.
DaCruzNut
My favorite part is leaving home and driving to Port Everglades, or the Port of Miami, both far less than an hour away, and thinking about all those poor souls who had to hassle and airport, baggage handlers, flying, getting to the ship, etc; since 6:00 am that morning. Oh the joys of living in South Florida....
GottaCruz
My absolute favorite moment is after walking across the gangway, entering the lobby and gazing up at the atrium. Then I take a deep breath and feel like I'm really there.
Joanandjoe
Ah, yes, heat, humidity, bugs, hurricanes, etc. Of course, I've noted many times that I'm a dedicated heat hater and cool lover, so Florida is not the place for me. I'll stick to the northeast, snow and all. (Florida might be nice in the winter, but that's tax season, so I have no chance of going there in that season.) What's not to like about cruising? A bad day on a cruise sure beats the 12 hour days I've been putting in at the office.
Dan
Aww Jeff, but that means when the cruise is over, you're vacation is too when you get home that hour after the cruise. We get to stretch things out by flying across the country LOL. What's this 6 am business? We left the house at 10 and were in LA at 6pm (9 by our clock). Then a relaxing 20 minute hop to the ship Saturday morning.
sewut51
No flying for us, it's no fun anymore, no movies, no meals, too much hassle. We drive 12 hours to Galveston and spend the night. The first sight of the Caribbean is a favorite for me. Then walking up the gangway and into the atrium...I'm finally onboard our cruise! The first meal is nice too, cuz I didn't have to cook it or clean up after it! Sewut
hazelson
My favourite part - hmmm! I think that would be getting the sign & sail card in my hot little hand - it's smooth sailing from there on. Once on the ship and in the cabin - I flush the toilet just to hear that annoying sound I know will be a part of my life for the next seven days lol. Suzila
I'm going to agree with boba on this one. My favorite part is right after Muster, when the ship pulls away from the port for the very first time. Up until that point I am too wound up...whether I have flown to the destination or driven to the port...doesn't matter. It takes me awhile to unwind, and the ship moving is the point that is my favorite.
Mebert
I always enjoy my first step on the cruise ship and walking through the public spaces of the ship. The preliminary part just makes me anxious. I always worry my plane will be late and I'll miss the ship. So, my favorite part is when I board the ship and get my luggage.
Dan
Not in our case it wasn't LOL. 4 of the eight of us were past guests, who are supposed to get gold cards. Due to a spelling mistake, I got a blue one, just like the other 4 of our group who were first timers. No biggie. Then we go to board the ship, and the gold cards won't scan in the security centre. So, the golds who were bugging us blues on the gangway about our blue cards got it right back when we said at least we can get on the ship and they can't LOL. The security officer had to do some manual override to get the gold cards to scan in. Hopefully this wasn't the case with every gold card on the cruise.
