  1. My Husband was the same, he has 2 suits - 1 he keeps for weddings ect and took both but only ended up wearing his best for the first formal night, some people on our last cruise (the Carnival Miracle) were wearing tuxedo's and looked very smart but most people seemed to be in dark suits and the second formal night he wore one of his best shirts & ties & suit trousers but fitted in well with what he was wearing. It appears that on the few cruises I have been fortunate to go on the first formal night (usually the Captain coctail party) most people make an effort & every one looks superb and the second formal night still see's people making an effort but not as much as the first formal night. As long as you are wearing a suit on the main formal night & feel smart that you will have a great time - you can't expect a few thousand people all to agree on what to wear!
  2. Ooohhh so close!! So whats the next target then - at this rate the site should have 2225 by Christmas??? or do you think we will have hit 2500 by then?
  3. Thanks for the review. That certainly made for interesting reading!
  4. Hi Keri, Dont forget to let us know when your cruise docs come so we can all do the doc dance with you - its the only excersize I get at the moment hahaha   I wouldnt worry in any case if you have your I.D & you have completed your online registration they should have all your details anyway. x
  5. Thanks for the review Jewels64 it sounded like everything went really smoothly - I will bet you will have another cruise booked within the next 2 years once you have done another "normal" holiday, we are having to just do a reletivley cheap holiday next year so we can save to do another cruise for 2007 (unless we win the lottery of course!)
  6. Welcome back Lisa, I will look forward to reading your reveiw with interest.
  7. Thanks guys, I think its going to be tough choosing our next cruise just because the kids club was so great on the Miracle I probably would be swayed towards another Carnival one but then is that doing an injustice to the other cruise lines? I have heard the Celebrity kids club is great from one of my colleagues and I am sure other people will tell me that their cruise had a good club but I didnt realise before this cruise what a difference it can make to the holiday?
  8. Welcome back jbond - unfortunatly I have been websensed at work for your pikkies so will have to wait til I can kick my hubby off our pc at home to have a look at them
  9. Hi Kaz uk, Lucky you I am off Sat & Sun but have to work on bank Holiday Monday (not that you can call selling cruises work hahaha) and I am going to visit my sister on the Sat & Sun so will prob need Mon to recover from her crowd!!!! I defo put a few pounds on during my cruise - even though we must have walked miles onboard and on the excursions but I did over treat myself to more Pizza's, ice Cream ect ect than I would normally have in a month!! Iceland will be a "few" degrees cooler than here but I think its in its late 40's early 50's now so should be a touch walmer in Julyand I think if you take a bip in the thermal springs that will keep you warm  You will have to tell us what it was like when you get back.
  10. I dont think I have got PCDS at the moment because I know at some point I will be booking another cruise & reading all the messages & reviews ect on this site makes me still remember what the cruise feels like.. I am sure if I was told I couldn't cruise again I would be massivly effected by PCDS but hopefully that will NEVER happen!!
  11. Bon Voyage - Hope you have a great trip
  12. Welcome to all new members over the past couple of weeks - I missed welcoming so many that I thought I would say hi to everyone at once here. Please join in the posts - I am fairly new & have been made to feel very welcome so dont be shy!!
  13. Hi Mebert, There are defo some great places of interest to go see in Egypt and I agree, of course, that a cruise must be the very best way of seeing them!! With Egypt having quite a few Muslems, as well as other religions, I would think that Vegetarian food is widely available and I am sure the Nile cruises would easily cater for Veretarians - especially if a request was sent through well in advance of boarding. We keep hearing about the security "issues" in certain areas of Egypt at the moment and there are a lot of Brits who are now travelling to the Red Sea area, Hurghada and Luxor and it is very worrying when these incidents happen, but there has been news recently of one of our airlines adding more flights to these areas so, hopefully, the increase in the tourism revenue over time should help these people see how important a stable and peaceful environment is?? :undecided:
  14. Bon Voyage - Hope you have a great time.
  15. Happy sailing - hope you have a great time
  16. Bon Voyage - hope you have a "Glorious" cruise (sorry couldn't resist!) Happy sailing
  17. Mebert, I know of a few ships doing 3 & 4 night Nile cruises from Luxor to Aswan and back, I dont know if you guys know of a company called Abercrombie & Kent, or agents who book through them, but they have details of some of the small ships we use for our UK passengers & you can download their brochures and see the ships & the itineraries on their web site if thats any help? I would defo love to do a Yangtze river cruise in China and go and see the Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an but I think we will only get to do this when my son is quite a bit older (gives me a good excuse to get the Mexico Riviera & Alaska cruises done first!! haha)
  18. I have to agree with Rogue, we have spoilt ourselves with the balcony and think we will have to pay the extra from now on - apart from Alaska, I think, most of my colleagues say its ok looking out of your window but if the Whales are on the other side of the ship you have to go up top anyway! (prob see different peoples opinions on that one??)
  19. Thanks Cheryl, I wasnt 100% sure how long it took myself so that appreciated  Kaz UK - I cant beleive its May bank hol on Monday, this year seems to have gone soo quickly I am sure July will fly by & before you know it you'll be sailing into the sun set (not at all jealous)
  20. Congrats Born2cruise  I am sure by the time you sail the incident will be old news!!
  21. Bon Voyage - Hope you had a great time
  22. Hi Cheryl, I have just submitted my review but prob didnt mention the decor too much but from the ships I have been on, & seen through work, I did like the Miracle's decor but can see why some people have seen it as a cause for discussion. The "grapes" in Bacchus were a bit garish and Mad Hatters wasnt my favourite room but the rest of the ship was quite pleasant in decor, I think the main colour scheme seemed to be a pale peachy colour in the rooms with white linen, red/gold in the Phantom Lounge with small black enamelled tables (I think but was dark in there most of the time we went?) the rest of the common area's I think had some sort of red in the carpeting or seating but wasn't so much so that it has stuck in my mind as being decorated in red (if that makes sense?) I am going to see if there is a way of inserting any of the photo's we have onto a message but have found no way of doing it as yet so will have to persevere so you can all have a look at what she was like :undecided:
  23. Congrats Howard - I'm sure the time will fly by!
  24. I wouldn't bother arguing anymore with the "newcomers" on this subject as everyone genuinly here for useful info & tips wouldnt believe the spam postings - I never even went into a shop in Grand Cayman (except to buy the postcards & stamps in Hell) after reading the good advice from the experienced cruisers. In fact apart from hand made local crafts the Carnival Miracle had some of the best prices for drink & jewellery (within a dollar or so) and browsing on board at your leisure at least you know you have the option to leave the shop without being hounded by some con artist - The sales staff onboard were more than happy to spend 30 mins with you without you even spending a dime!!! - I wish that was all we did spend though - haha
