Maria, we stayed at the Comfort Suites at 2540 Davie Rd. They have a free shuttle to the port, providing you make arrangements in advance. It was a very nice hotel - don't know if it is still there, but there was a Shoney's right next door. They also have an airport shuttle, so they will come pick you up.

My advise would be to not get too hung up on the shuttle thing. If you stay in or near the downtown area or the airport area a cab will run you about $10.

We have stayed at several of the shuttle hotels and most were a zoo trying to get everyone on board, requiring multiple trips for the driver and long waits for us. A couple times I simply grabbed a cab and bagged the shuttle altogether. Much nicer arriving at FTL alone, rather than with a bus load of people.

I would look at the Amerisuites on 17th, the Comfort Suites Port and Airport and the Embassy Suites. Of those three the Embassy Suites will be the most expensive but they do NOT have a shuttle to the port, just to the airport. The Amerisuites and the Comfort Suites have shuttles to and from both the cruise port and airport. All three hotels are very close to lots of restaurants and shopping on the 17th St. corridor. If you opt for a taxi from the hotel to the port it will run between 10 and 15 dollars plus tip - it all depends on how bad traffic is getting into the port.....it can be a nightmare on the days when there are a lot of ships in port.

Hi Folks,

Am not sure if this is the right spelling, but we stayed at the Bahia Mia Hotel which is right on the beach and the cruise ship terminal can be seen from the upper floors, Very nice hotel with a wonderful eatery nearby for sandwiches and deli stuff. Also just about 100 yards down the road you can take a small cruise on the inland waterways taking you passed the homes and boats of the very rich and famous who live in that area of Florida. It's a very enjoyable trip with an all you can eat buffet on a private island included in the fare. Great for the evening before you cruise.

Regards,

James.
