  1. We've been on Celebrity, NCL and Carnival. We're sticking with Carnival now because of the great military discounts. Although the shorter cruises are known as "party" cruises, we had no problems when we went on the 3 and 4 day cruises in May (although we did go AFTER spring break). For the most part, the 8 day cruises in Sept, Jan. and Feb. have been an older crowd but there are still lots of fun things to do if you want to party. The food and service have always been great on Carnival and value for the money is high
  2. Hmmm, let's see.... First would be if I can talk my DH into letting me book another one when we've already got 2 booked Second would be a great military discount Third would be avoiding spring break and summer We're sticking with Carnval and will hit platinum on the Jan cruise....not bad going from 0 to 10 in a little over a year and a half on Carnival (only possible because of their great military discounts)
  3. If you think smoke out on the balconies is bad now, just wait until alot of the smokers book balcony rooms!
  4. We've had an aft balcony twice on the Legend (Spirit class). Instead of 40 sq ft (10' wide, 4' deep), they're 60 sq ft (10'wide 6' deep). Great view from the back. Only things I don't like is there's not alot of breeze back there and it seems as though I noticed quite a bit of vibration. There was a laudry room right across the hall from us and it's nice to be able to just go up the elevators to the aft lido deck and buffet There are a few 8G cabins that have a huge balcony and of course there are the 9A wrap babins
  5. NYC gets more than just the "odd snowstorm".......that's what keeps us from booking a winter cruise from there even tho we could drive to port. I don't want my illusions ruined by seeing snow on the Lido deck
  6. Yup, you should see the ratty duds I make my husband wear all summer just so he'll keep his cruisin duds nice....LOL
  7. If auto tipping is in place, the only ones I tip at the time service is rendered is for room service. Otherwise, we hand out extra on the last day. The bar bill has an automatic 15% gratuity included for every soda, beer or mixed drink.
  8. You and me both...between menopause and brain farts, the good thoughts are few and far between
  9. Uh-oh...sounds logical to me. As soon as we get home from a cruise I wash all our clothes and put them back into the bureau in the spare bedroom to wait for the next cruise
  10. I hear ya! Also having "Hot, hot, hot" downloaded to your desktop so you can play it a dozen times a day
  11. Our last 7 cruises have had auto-tipping in place. I like it because none of the hard working crew will get stiffed out of well-deserved tips. We always bring extra cash along anyway to tip the water, assistant waiter and cabin stewards (not to mention the taxi drivers, tour operators, room service, luggage handlers, etc). It does seem like the cruiselines should just add it into the tips so it isn't such a rude shock to 1st time cruisers who don't read their documents or belong to cruise chat boards.
  12. Congratulations, Jennifer!......that is cause for a big celebration!
  13. When you go online to check for: Price drops on upcoming cruises Last minute cruise deals that are just too good to pass up Log onto the Carnival website to see how many days before your next cruise (can it be that only one day has passed since you last checked???) You call everyone you know to tell them when your finally at DDM status ........and all this before your first cup of coffee
  14. 'Fraid so..I'm 54 (gulp) now..
  15. Thanks all!....just saw the postings today. We've been back for a week now (sure seems much longer!). Had a fantastic time. Can't believe the Fascination is an older ship since it's so clean and well maintained. We'd have no hesitation going on this ship again! Now we've just gotta wait til our Sept and Nov cruises
  16. It's odd that I've always had horses (and make my living now selling horse tack) and I've never been on one of the horseback excursions. I'm not sure why not as it was always a fantasy of mine to gallop a horse on the beach. Guess maybe age has finally caught up with me
  17. Well some of the corners are hairpin turns and the driver honks all the way around them. Views are stunning and it's worth the drive over the mountain. Twice when we went to Cane Garden Bay the waters were calm and clear as could be. The last time we went there was a dangerous undertow with high waves (it was posted) and I came pretty close to drowning (no exageration!)
  18. We've taken the shuttle buses to Cane Garden Bay beach twice and really enjoyed it there. The ride over the winding mountain road is a real treat
  19. Feb, '06......5 nights, just to see if we liked it.......we did!
  20. We just completed our 10th cruise since we started cruising Feb of last year and we've got 2 more booked this yr....Sept & Nov. How many more will we take?....as many as we can
  21. I'd looked at the web page for Chankanab Park and it looked nice. There's even a printable coupon on the web page for a couple dollars off. Any other ideas?
  22. We loved the service on Celebrity (our 1st 3 cruises were on Celebrity).......they just go above and beyond. With that being said, we'll probably stick with Carnival unless a great deal comes along. My husband is retired from the Navy and you just can't beat Carnival's military discounts. We can take at least 2 Carnival to 1 Celebrity. We've really enjoyed our cruises on Carnival, cabins are great, service is good and really enjoyed the food.
  23. We'll be in Cozumel in just a few weeks. Any good ideas on what to do there?
  24. I'm dancin' along with you! The Legend is great...we've been on that ship 3 times. Hope you have a great cruise!
