  1. I'm sorry that I didn't explain it well enough that some of you didn't understand. As for reducing the tip, that wouldn't have been fair as my regular server was ill and he was just filling in for her. I'm just not the type to make a scene and I guess, looking back, I should have spoken to the Maitre d'. My husband doesn't like to make waves either. I tried writing to Carnival via contact us on their website. After writing the whloe thing down, I got a msg saying that it could only be 1,000 characters. Grr. Does anyone have an email address for Carnival? Sewut
  2. I didn't say anything to the waiter as I was two seats away at a round table. I did mention the incident on the comment card at the end of the cruise. I don't want to get the man in trouble, but I don't feel that he should be doing such things for children. Sewut
  3. What do you think of this? We were on the Carnival Ecstacy last month with our grandson who turned 10 on the cruise. At our table at dinner were two other boys aged 12 and 14. One night our waitress was ill and the other servers were covering for her. One of them took my grandson's napkin and folded it like they do the towel animals. It was a headless human figure. He then took a spoon and slid it inside to make a head and asked my grandson if it was a man or a woman. My grandson said, "A woman because it has a skirt." The waiter then put my grandson's hand over the figure and pressed down on the bowl of the spoon. "No," he said, "it's a man." My grandson turned red and the rest of us were kind of shocked. I think this was inappropriate for a child and for the formal dining room. Here we are, trying to teach him manners and how to act in a formal setting, and the waiter does something like this. It's still bothering me, am I over reacting? Sewut
  4. We have been brainwashed to believe that children belong to the state and the state can decide what's best for them. They are your children and if you want them with you on a cruise, take them! Public schools are a waste of time. I homeschooled all five of my children and we could take off and explore the world anytime we wanted. Sewut
  5. Thanks for the good wishes. I'll skip the margarita as I don't drink, but I'll have a good time anyway. Sewut
  6. My husband says for him it is seeing the ship for the first time, spotting it from a distance dwarfing the pier building. I'm with you, though, I like stepping on board, hearing "Welcome aboard" from the staff and looking up at the atrium, knowing it is finally here. Sewut
  7. I'm going on the Ecstacy on September 23 with my grandson. I'm assuming that there is an arcade onboard where they can play video games. Are these games cash only or put on the Sail & Sign card? Can anyone tell me? Sewut
  8. I'm smiling just thinking about it. I met my husband in 1969 while learning to ski (snow ski). He was ahead of me in line for the rope tow. My skis were on top of his and when he grabbed the rope, he went face first in the snow. So we met on a ski lift. On the way home from the ski trip, he kissed me for the first time. First kiss was on a bus. Before he went to Vietnam, he took me to meet his parents. We were on a plane over NYC on the way home when he proposed. So he proposed on a plane. So when our 25th anniversary rolled around, we had to have some type of conveyance. We chose a cruise. That was 11 years ago. We'll be going on our 4th Carnival cruise in September. I can't wait. This time we're taking our grandson. Might as well get him hooked. Maybe we'll go on a space shuttle for our 50th... Sewut
  9. Don't tell the fashion police, but I got a tux for my husband on eBay and it's grey with black velvet collar and trim. I think he looks gooood in it and I don't care what everyone else thinks. Sewut
  10. On our first cruise in 1995 on the Holiday, our steward laid my nightgown on the bed in an hourglass type shape. Sewut
  11. Can anyone tell me what kind of food they serve? We will be going with a 10 year old. He's not really into the spicy, Mexican fare. Sewut
  12. My DH is one of the ones who misses out on all the planning and dreaming about a cruise. If I share something with him, he'll tell people like he knows all about it. Our next cruise we are taking our grandson, who will turn 10 on the cruise. Now I have someone to share the excitement with. We have a countdown clock on the computer and my grandson likes to share the time left. The other night at dinner when he did this, my DH said, "Guess what? In 90 days we'll be getting off the Ecstacy!" Our faces dropped and I wanted to cry. How mean! How could he even think of getting off! Sewut
  13. We just received the permission documents from his father this weekend, so we felt it was safe to tell him. He is so excited. He and his brother are spending the summer with us as my daughter is taking chemo. She just had stomach cancer surgery. I can't wait to experience it all through his eyes. Now we need another brochure to drool over. There's not enough to go around. Sewut
  14. Whoo hoo for you! Time to start gathering stuff and shop the summer clearance sales. Sewut
  15. You're almost on your way now! Congratulations on this important milestone. I'm almost to double digits, I envy you. Sewut
  16. No flying for us, it's no fun anymore, no movies, no meals, too much hassle. We drive 12 hours to Galveston and spend the night. The first sight of the Caribbean is a favorite for me. Then walking up the gangway and into the atrium...I'm finally onboard our cruise! The first meal is nice too, cuz I didn't have to cook it or clean up after it! Sewut
  17. We're looking for a hotel for the night before our cruise. We want one with a shuttle and parking during the cruise. It doesn't have to be anything special, just not in a bad neighborhood. Sewut
  18. We're taking our grandson on a cruise for his 10th birthday. What is there to do in Progreso? My husband and I have been there and done the kayaking, what else is there that would be fun for a kid? Sewut
  19. I, too, love the pampering. I like dressing up for dinner, especially formal night, and playing tea party! My husband has a tux and he looks sooooo handsome! We like to make the rounds of all the portrait stations before dinner, and usually buy too many. lol Sewut
  20. The passport is not an option because of custody issues. I want to take him before he has to have a passport. I think this is a good age because he is old enough to take care of himself as far as bathing, dressing, etc., but not old enough to be a problem as far as the opposite sex if you know what I mean. He should have a blast at Camp Carnival and we want to introduce him to snorkeling. He learns pretty fast. He picked up snow skiing when he was 3 in just one day. He loves water and will spend the summer in my pool. We haven't told him yet, but I think he has an inkling. Sewut
  21. Whoo hoo! Two cruises in one year! Our TA emailed another great deal that we couldn't refuse. We are taking our grandson this time. He will turn 10 on the cruise. Any hints or tips on cruising with grandkids? Does he need a picture ID? Where do we get one? We are going on the Carnival's Ecstacy, 5 days out of Galveston to Cozumel and Progreso on Sept. 23. Sewut
  22. Hi and welcome to Cruise Crazies. I used to live in Commerce City, CO. My daughter and her family still live there. When we went on our first cruise we were living there and we used a travel agent from Thornton on 104th St. right near Red Lobster. I don't know if they are still there, that was 11 years ago. Once you've cruised, you'll be hooked. I'm suffering from PCD (Post Cruise Depression) right now. I'm waiting for my husband to provide the cure, book another cruise! Sewut
  23. I don't know where it was taken, but I know where it wasn't taken. It wasn't taken in Cozumel. Cozumel's trees are gone. It was so sad to go back there. Sewut
  24. I also got a 12. I don't drink, so does anyone want to trade my rum for a cruise? Sewut
  25. I can feel your excitement. Have a great cruise! Sewut
